NASCAR Car To Sport Kappa Sigma Decals
NASCAR is one of those things in life that you either love or hate. There’s very rarely an in-between. Going to that one race a year with your boys and getting hammered in the infield can be a life transforming experience for some. It is essentially built upon the principle that the drunker you are, the more fun it is. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
One fraternity man has become quite the NASCAR enthusiast, though not as a spectator. Ryan Ellis, a Kappa Sig from George Mason University, will be driving the #24 Toyota Camry in the Virginia 529 Colleges Savings 250. This race, held at Richmond International Speedway, will feature a very unique car. That car, of course, is Ellis’.
Ellis’ car, the #24 Camry, will have a somewhat unusual set of decals. In addition to the traditional logos of sponsors, his car will be sporting his fraternity’s letters.
Think your rush shirts are really going to get the word out about your chapter? Try putting your letters on the side of a race car. In addition to the letters, the car will also have the fraternity’s crest, as well as several slogans, such as, “The World’s Most Preferred Fraternity.”
Additionally, on the hood of the car, there will be the emblem of Kappa Sig’s Military Heroes Campaign, part of the fraternity’s A Greater Cause Foundation. Even if you’re not a Kappa Sig, you’ve got to admit that this is a pretty great charity effort.
Kappa Sigma’s Military Heroes Campaign honors and aids the thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception in 2007, the campaign has donated nearly $500,000 to non-profit organizations who advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat.
I’d like to think some small media outlets will be covering this, but let’s face it. It’s a fraternity man not spiking drinks, hazing, or doing any of the other things they like to pretend we exclusively do.
If you’d like to see the car in action, the race will be broadcast on ESPN2 on September 6th at 7:30 p.m. EST.

12 years ago at 10:45 amMy father would turn on NASCAR when he did his Sunday dictations for work, because it was so boring to him that he didn’t possibly think he would ever pay attention to it. Now he is an avid fan. So I guess there’s something to NASCAR.
