New College Comedy “Believe Me” Features Rowdy Gentleman Gear, Opens This Fall
It’s only fitting that a movie about four rowdy gentlemen would be littered with actual RG gear. The film “Believe Me,” which opens in theaters and on demand on September 26th, follows four desperate and shameless college students — including a drunken pledge trainer, a suave gambling addict, a “too nice to say no” accomplice, and the ring leader con artist himself — who pose as a Christian charity to pay for their tuition in order to graduate and presumably attempt to become decent human beings who contribute to society…after they rip off people in the name of Jesus, obviously.
“Believe Me,” an equally irreverent and sweet comedy that skewers both Christianity and its pessimistic detractors alike, is the creation of Will Bakke and Michael B. Allen, two Austin filmmakers who graduated from Baylor and Texas A&M, respectively. The film stars Alex Russell (Unbroken, Chronicle), Miles Fisher (Final Destination 5, Bad Sports, and this glorious video), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), Max Adler (Glee), Johanna Braddy (Greek), Zachary Knighton (Happy Endings), Nick Offerman (aka Ron fucking Swanson), and Christopher McDonald (aka Shooter McGavin).
The newest trailer for “Believe Me” was released today, and you can watch it HERE.
The first line of the trailer really says it all, in terms of the impressive combination of charisma, deception, and total lack of fucks the protagonist, Sam, possesses. “Brothers, God may love you…but does he like you?” That’s a pretty hilariously messed up thing to say to a group of Christians you’re conning.
“Believe Me” hits theaters in Atlanta, Austin, College Station, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Tampa, and Waco on September 26th, as well as being released on demand.
And, as a personal aside, I had a chance to visit the set a few months ago while they were filming in Austin and can attest that even the stuff that wasn’t in the trailer looks hilarious. Not only were the cast and crew cracking each other up and having a great time, but we also wound up getting pretty hammered with Shooter later.
Good times. I highly recommend checking this film out, Rowdy Gentleman gear or not…but there is Rowdy Gentleman gear, so that’s pretty damn cool.
Those guys look old as shit.
