Northwestern Secures First-Ever NCAA Tournament Bid With Buzzer Beater

Northwestern University hasn’t been in the NCAA tournament at any point during the tourney’s 78-year existence. A pretty pathetic showing from a school that’s seen every other member of its athletic conference make the tournament at least 6 times.

But, finally, it’s Northwestern’s year. They beat Michigan last night with a buzzer beater that all but assures them a bid to the Big Dance. Here’s the perfectly executed play that snapped their cold streak.

What a year it’s been for the city of Chicago. Streaks are being broken left and right up in the Windy City. Which one will fall next? I hit up TFM’s self-proclaimed “Official Chicago Reporter” Jeffrey Borislow to see what he has to say.

The next streak to fall will be the streak of people visiting the bean. It’s been Chicago’s biggest tourist attraction for years, but I think pretty soon people will stop going. I stopped going after my consecutive bean visit streak hit 452 days.

Let the madness begin.

Hear “The Big Scoop” from TFM’s Official Chicago Reporter Jeffrey Borislow on the new episode of the Inside TFM Podcast that dropped today. His segment starts at 25:05 in the below video

So sad that their greatest season in program history is an average 21 win season

Siblings probably picked Michigan too, which is obviously why I suffered a huge loss on this one.

Congrats to Northwestern, nice to see them finally in the tournament.

Maybe if they beat Rutgers, the Illini will still have a shot as well.
