Obama Blows Off Marines With Half-Assed Salute While Holding A Latte

Screen Shot 2014-09-24 at 11.05.46 AM

Good ol’ Mr. President was far too busy to actually salute the two marines stationed at the bottom of the stairway as he exited Marine One in his stylish sunglasses, early this week.

Instead, holding his latte, he strolled past the two soldiers and gave them a weird, half-assed attempt at a salute.

Politics aside, this could be viewed as TFTC. The commander-in-chief can’t just stop and salute every single marine, but he’ll gladly pretend like he respects you when he walks by.

“Thanks for all your service or whatever.”

Gonna catch slack for this one, but oh well. The President isn’t expected to actually salute military personnel because he is a citizen, and like other citizens without military experience, we are not supposed to salute. The President is only Commander in Chief because of the Constitution, he is still a citizen that was elected as a public official. Also, saluting by Presidents didn’t occur until Reagan (Frat) started doing it. Lastly, even the great Eisenhower didn’t salute during his presidency because he said he is a citizen and is not supposed to, even being a former 5-Star General.

    I’ll try less next time

Logann what you just said, is probably one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. Take the cock out of your mouth, and have some damn respect for our military. your a fucking geed, and by the looks of your profile picture, some kid on crystal meth.

Logan and Leroy are both correct. The president isn’t expected to salute the Armed Forces members, they are expected to salute one another. But Leroy has a point too, that half-assed attempt was disrespectful, he should of just not done it at all.

Actually the President as the Commander and Chief of the Military is required to return a salute from a member of the armed forces.

No sir, military personnel are required to salute him, not the other way around.

Even if thats the case, if he is going to attempt a salute it should be done properly and showing respect to the men and woman that fight for our Armed Forces.

Logann, you are correct. Unless I am wrong by some other regulation, the salute is only rendered between two individuals if the two are members of the Armed Services. AR 600-25 para 1-5 governs salutes for Enlisted, Warrant and Commissioned Officers. It states that the President will be saluted by all Army personnel in uniform. There is nothing that states the President is required to salute back.

Thanks for the double check. I believe it is more of just a mutual respect type of situation. If you look back, even Eisenhower didn’t salute Medal of Honor recipients, but all ranking personnel are require to salute the Medal of Honor recipient (actually just the medal its self).

You are correct about Eisenhower, but the difference between the two Presidents is that one is known for being pro-military and the other isn’t. Obama is going to be blasted for anything he does that comes across as disrespectful to the Armed Forces because of his stance on giving very little raises, cutting benefits for vets and funding to key military programs.

Eisenhower wasn’t “pro-military” in the sense you think. He was the one who warned against the military industrial complex and wanted to limit spending.

Fun fact, during his presidency, Eisenhower still preferred to be referred to as “General Eisenhower,” rather than “Mr. President.” Fighting for this country was what he considered his greatest achievement, even more important than running it.

This is disappointing .. I’ve always pictured Obama as more of a Frappuccino kind of guy

Really sad that this is the man who is the face of our nation, and that’s the amount of respect he shows the men who fight for it.

You know he sucks when even liberal media is saying something about his half ass attempt at ‘respecting’ those who truly keep us free.
