Ohio College Students Exchange Bitcoin For Drugs In Massive Trafficking Scheme
It was only a matter of time before we caught a larger glimpse of the sleazy side of Bitcoin.
While it looks like a decent number of folks, wary of the Bitcoin bubble bursting, are already jumping ship on the cryptocurrency and trying to move on to the next big thing, there are others taking advantage of Bitcoin’s dark web mantle for their own nefarious purposes.
Take 42-year-old Anthony Scott Boeckholt, an Iowa man who shipped massive amounts of drugs to two Ohio college students in exchange for Bitcoin.
From Des Moines Register:
Investigators examined communications between the two students and [Anthony] Boeckholt, the release said. Boeckholt is accused of sending “many large shipments” of drugs to the students, according to the release.
“The secretive nature of the dark web and cryptocurrency allows huge drug deals to be made without a trace,” Blackburn said in the release. “This means that anything purchased on the dark web may not be what it appears, leading to fentanyl-laced narcotics and other more severe substances.”
Blackburn said in the release that drugs connected to this investigation led to at least two Ohio University student overdoses in 2017. The release did not say whether those overdoses were fatal.
Serious stuff, right? And this isn’t even the first story THIS WEEK involving shit like this going down. Some 25-year-old dealer from Wales just got handed an eight-year sentence for allowing interested buyers to exchange Bitcoin for fentanyl, a seriously potent painkiller you really don’t want to mess with.
So, on second thought, maybe your fraternity’s treasurer shouldn’t be all in on Bitcoin, because there’s a sizeable chance he’ll blow it all on drugs..

You’ve never heard of Silk Road?
8 years ago at 11:35 amPretty much the only reason bitcoin became valuable. The irony is that you don’t need a warrant to track someone’s bitcoin transaction so if you’re doing bot trafficking you’re actually more easily tracked.
No whether they are smart enough to do that is another question.
8 years ago at 11:43 amVirginator can’t afford bitcoin or drugs. He gets fucked up by standing up really fast a few times to get light headed.
