Paul Azinger Once Told Phil Mickelson To “Putt It, Bitch” During An On Course Bet, Paid Dearly

Phil Mickelson loves to gamble, and he doesn’t carry small bills. Because of that, Lefty’s wagers end up being pretty hefty–like “what you make in a week, you stupid peasant” hefty. Apparently, Mickelson has been doing this forever. Former fellow PGA Tour player Paul Azinger recently relayed a story to PGA Tour Radio on SiriusXM about Mickelson in his early days and a bet between Azinger, Mickelson, Payne Stewart (RIP socks), and Ben Crenshaw. The story went horribly, terribly wrong for Azinger.

The short version is that Azinger basically dared Mickelson to win, and Mickelson proceeded to sink a 15-foot fuck you putt in Azinger’s face before walking off with quite a few of those large bills he likes to carry. Listen to the story, it’s pretty great.

I think Mickelson might be more competitive about his bets than he is about the tournaments.
