New Photos Of Tony Finau’s Ankle Prove He’s The Real Hero Of The Masters

Depending on who you ask, there were a number of heroes to come out of this past week’s Masters Tournament. Patrick Reed for winning the thing. Tiger Woods for just showing up. John Daly for being John Daly.

But the dude who, in my mind, deserves to go down as the ultimate hero of Masters 2018 is Tony Finau. The guy finished at 7-under, a showing that got him a T-10 finish. Now, it’s not his performance alone that earned him his stripes, but what he ended up overcoming that made his finish so damn impressive.

From For The Win:

Tony Finau had, by far, the craziest Masters week of any golfer.

Just read this tweet:

About that “failed celebration” at the Par 3 Contest (again, WARNING: It’s gross): Finau dislocated his ankle and popped it back in.

Somehow, Finau finished T10 with a 7-under at Augusta playing with an injured ankle. How bad was it? ESPN’s Marty Smith revealed the answer.

(WARNING: THIS IS ALSO GROSS.)

Ready?

Okay.

Holy shit! That is one gnarly war wound. Let’s look at that from another angle. You know you want to.

Major props to Tony for beasting through an injury that would’ve sidelined the best of us. A hole in one is no doubt an awesome accomplishment. But you know he would’ve been kicking himself (with his other foot, of course) if a celebration during a goddamn Par 3 contest kept him out of the Masters. I mean, that could’ve gone down as one of the most embarrassing sports-related celebratory ankle injuries since Bill Gramática did his thing. But instead of cementing a spot on the Not Top 10, Tony went the other way with it.

What. A. Warrior.

Vaginator probably leaves more skid marks in the toilet than I found after a drag race on the track

I’m not terribly familiar with an “ankle” but it does look like it hurt.
