Pi Kappa Phi At Arizona Shut Down Due To Mistreatment Of Pledges, Among Other Things

From the Arizona Daily Star:

The local chapter of Pi Kappa Phi had been in trouble 14 times since 2010 for incidents including hazing and underage booze bashes that ended with students being hospitalized for excessive alcohol consumption, UA officials said.

In the hazing incidents, new fraternity members were deprived of proper food and sleep, they said.

After repeated fines, warnings and stints on probation, the chapter recently was shut down after dual investigations by the UA and the fraternity’s national headquarters.

14 run-ins with the university in the past three years AND multiple warnings, fines, probations, etc? Man, some fraternities just have the “it” factor, don’t they? Born to haze. Can’t stop, won’t stop. Depriving pledges of food and sleep in the midst of other hazing and maltreatment allegations — I can’t say I don’t support that bold strategy.

Come to think of it, don’t we know a Pi Kapp member from the University of Arizona?

That’s right! Jimmy Tatro is from that chapter. Jimmy’s a great guy, though. I seriously doubt he had anything to do with this mess. Probably just a couple bad apples in their chapter.

Oh man, do you guys remember that awesome video that Jimmy made a while back about his little brother? I don’t really recall much about the content of the video, but I do remember it being hilarious. Just a few harmless pranks and some light-hearted ball busting or something like that.

Let’s watch it again for old time’s sake.

Notable violations observed in the video include, but are not limited to, the following: verbal assault, forced alcohol consumption, public humiliation, and general maltreatment.

But really, they were shut down.
