Pike House Robbed, Residents Held At Gunpoint; Members Still Rebuild Tornado Damaged Homes Hours Later

The fraternity house is supposed to be a place of solace, a place where you can relax and recover after a rough day on the course–or after any time spent in an actual classroom. It’s the last place you’d expect any trouble (outside of raging or intoxicated brothers) to occur. However, Pikes at the University of Missouri at St. Louis discovered that the same felonious morons who target neighborhoods and homes can victimize a fraternity house just as easily.

Early Friday morning, just before many of the brothers had plans to travel to Joplin, Mo., to rebuild homes destroyed by the massive tornado in 2011, an armed intruder entered the fraternity house through an unlocked back door. The thief then held seven residents at gunpoint as he stole various items from the house before fleeing into the dark.

Despite being shaken up, the brothers still managed to travel to Joplin for a two-day project of rebuilding homes in the area. In fact, the fraternity’s president said the frightening experience brought them closer together and that they were determined not to let one idiot ruin their charitable experience.

From Fox2Now:

This is something that we feel is important, giving back to the community, and something that we feel is necessary to do, and didn’t want to have anybody detract from it.

According to the Bel-Ridge Police Department, the unknown suspect is still on the loose.

As much as I dislike Pikes through our national rivalry, this is downright awesome.
