seriously, there are a lot of VERY exclusive golf clubs in the US (some just as or more exclusive than Augusta), Augusta is either the only one that all these GDIs have ever heard of or the ACTUAL members havent taught their children the way things work.
No respect to Augusta obviously or their membership, i assume most of those who say anything about this club are the same people who wear Master’s visors and think people might mistake them for a member
I will cordially disagree. While Augusta is the most famous exclusive golf club and often the most talked-about due to the prestige the Masters brings and the publicity that comes with letting in men like Warren Buffett, Lou Holtz and Bill Gates, there are other courses in Scotland, Ireland, the Northern United States and (if you can believe it) the Western United States that are in Augusta National’s league, some of which would never give a non-golfer like Gates a membership and would never hold a national golf tournament. This being said, Augusta is quite amazing and quite prestigious, but I would say it is one of the best in the world and it is not outrageous to believe that other great golf clubs compare.
As someone who has experienced the perfection that is augusta national(TFM), been an honorary member of the R&A for a day(TFM), broke par at the old course without a caddie(TFM), and played at one of the most exclusive golf clubs in Belfast Ireland, The Melbourne Golf Club(TFM),I have to politely say that nothing compares to the National, some may be special but that place tops it all….o and my beer of choice is Natty Light no matter the course
i have to say that there are courses that compare to augusta. cypress point has 250 members and they denied JFK from their restaurant. I played there over spring break and I would say that it is on par, if not better than augusta
I don’t think he is dissing Augusta as a course, and a club, but rather that for the average TFM reader, Augusta is all they know as far as exclusive clubs and it is thrown around here a lot. Augusta does let in people strictly based off of fame, as mentioned above, but there are other clubs with spectacular courses that you actually have to be good to get the invite to join, or even play as a guest. One of these is Pine Valley, consistently ranked up there with Augusta, but the difference is to be a member of PV, you better be close to a scratch golfer, or have a history of winning on the tour, or sizable Amateur events.
Augusta may very well be the finest course in the land, but others can match the exclusivity. (Pine Valley, Cypress Point, and perhaps The Country Club and Fishers Island.)
I know members personally and I can tell you that you are completely wrong in your assumptions…It is on tap across the creek at the second best club in the city/state and would bet to say that if you want a natty light at the national you will get a natty light
First of all the Augusta National does not serve beers on tap they only serve bottles.
Second the owner of coors and anheuser busch are both members so I doubt they would allow for a beer as shitty as natty to be served at such a prestigious club as the Augusta National.
Third you should probably stick to drinking Natty at your local, shitty, public golf course geed.
and if you have to ask my source of this information then you obviously do not know how the Augusta National works.
Most Augusta members don’t want Natty or anything in that realm. If his father made a request they would add it to his profile and then have some available for him he went to play his 1 round per year.
Only Red, shut the f**k up. No ones tickets get them in the locker room. Players only. Stop making up shit to make your life sound cooler than it is. Geed
To Phi Sigs: You’re an idiot. Anheuser-Busch is the maker of Natural Light, so I doubt Anheuser-Busch’s supposed owner(it was sold to InBev, it’s not family owned, geed) would tell them his own beer is “too shitty” for Augusta.
And no one believes that you have a source. Augusta usually caps its membership at about 300, but usually lower, and there are about 500 people on here that claim to be members. There are probably zero members that visit TFM, because they have better things to do, and you are most likely the guy “drinking Natty at your local, shitty, public golf course.”
No it didn’t. And no, your dad isn’t one of the 300 members of Augusta National that include Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Jack Welch. Get off this site you phony geed.
You’re not building up the club’s credibility by naming these people. Having members like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett makes the club less fratty, not more. I wouldn’t want to play a round with a GDI tool like Gates. Plus it shows that they’ll let anyone in, as long as you have enough [new] money.
No they don’t, I was there today.
14 years ago at 3:45 pmYeah i bet, and im sure you talked to Marsh and Billy and played a round didn’t you?
14 years ago at 6:55 pmActually we did, he is a member, so check yourself.
14 years ago at 11:32 pmI really want to believe this! They didn’t have it in October, but if this is true then I truly commend your father!
14 years ago at 3:48 pmTFM is making Augusta National look GDI. Real members of an exclusive club would know better than to throw it around in random online forums
14 years ago at 4:11 pmseriously, there are a lot of VERY exclusive golf clubs in the US (some just as or more exclusive than Augusta), Augusta is either the only one that all these GDIs have ever heard of or the ACTUAL members havent taught their children the way things work.

14 years ago at 4:19 pmTrying to say that there are other clubs in the US or even in the world that compare to Augusta is as false of a statement as there has ever been

14 years ago at 11:16 pmSage Valley is frattier than Augusta.
14 years ago at 10:53 pmSage Valley is FaF. Almost as badass as when I go to the National….ALMOST
14 years ago at 1:52 amNo it isnt’t. The owner of Sage Valley just couldn’t get into the National.
14 years ago at 7:55 amClearly someone was not admitted to the club.
14 years ago at 10:36 amIm from Augusta and Sage Valley is clearly not frattier than the place where The Augusta NATIONAL is held
14 years ago at 2:02 pmi’ve played both sage valley and the national. they’re both FAF, but you can’t beat the history of Augusta.
14 years ago at 10:29 pmNo it didn’t. And no, your dad isn’t one of the 300 members of Augusta National that include Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Jack Welch. Get off this site you phony geed.
