Old money grew up in New England, went to boarding school at Exeter, vacations in Nantucket, goes to school at Harvard, and never crosses below the Mason-Dixon line. Northern legacy. TFM.

Please tell me the irony of people from Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas making fun of New Jersey wasn’t lost on anyone else. As much as I hate to defend New Jersey, there are some incredibly nice parts of the state that most of you geeds wouldn’t even be able to afford to live in. At the same time, there are plenty of shit holes with people who need to be hit over the damn head with a lead pipe. Can’t help but to think the same goes for southern states.

This North vs. South argument is such a beating and is based off of dumb stereotypes, arrogance, and idiocracy. Give it a rest.

What kind of replies was he expectingw he submitted this though? A big thumbs up since he so proudly admitted he’d never been down South? He knows this site is full of Southerners or he wouldn’t have submitted it in the first place.

To yoyobrah, and everyone else defending him:

I’m a born-and-raised Virginian, and if you go far enough north here, it turns from pretty Southern to classic North in about 50 miles. I love the South because it’s my home and it made me the man I am. I’m sure Northerners say the same thing–I don’t agree with them, but I’m not going to judge them because I’m not from the North and I have no idea how y’all were raised.

I’m sure y’all love your cities and suburbs. Me, I get claustrophobic in a city where I can’t walk down the street without bumping somebody, and I can’t stand to look at carbon-copy suburbs where every house looks the same. But that’s just me. Maybe I would be all right with it if I were raised that way. Point is, I don’t particularly care for the North, but that doesn’t mean I feel justified in saying your whole way of life sucks. And you should do the same. Stop shitting on the South when you have obviously no grasp of the culture and way of life.

Far as schools go, no one doubts y’all have good schools for academics (Ivies and MIT, basically). But you’re kidding yourself if you think Rice/Emory/Vanderbilt/Wake Forest/Duke grads aren’t headed for success. Also, the South absolutely smokes the North in terms of good-quality-academic public schools: UT/UGA/GTech/UF/UNC/UVA/W&M against…Penn State, I guess. Yeah, yeah, I know, “I’m too rich to go to school with those average people.” If you think that, piss off. Plenty of working-class and middle-class dudes in the SEC frat harder than you ever will, and will become more successful in life because their bosses don’t think they’re raging douches.

Also, fuck finals clubs. They’re not frats just because their exclusive. Finals clubs exclude people if they didn’t go to one of your prep schools. Fuck that. I’m proud to say that down south it’s a hell of a lot more common that people get excluded simply because they suck. In most frats, your old money won’t mean shit if you don’t know how to drink, party and just generally be interesting/relatable/not a cunt.

Being rich and well-connected is awesome and no one disparages it (those that do are called “liberals” and more commonly fester back where you’re from). But no one in the South shits on people for making the best out of what they got, because as a general rule, people do that down here instead of bitching about how unfair life/government/corporations are.

But the South frats more than the North does, and it’s hard to argue that one if you look up the recruitment rates for major schools. A Finals Club isn’t a frat, and there’s no such thing as a Total Finals Club Move, except for maybe shitting on something you don’t have a damn clue about. So think whatever you want. I’m glad they still teach folks in the South that dressing sharp, having a great golf game and knowing the right people doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole.

Forgetting about Lehigh, West Point, Johns Hokins (in Baltimore, thus Northern), Georgetown (DC, same applies), Bucknell, Pitt, Villanova, NYU, Lafayette, CMU, BC, RPI, UMD, etc?

except for the fact that this TFM wasn’t initially a bash on southerners at all. many southerners saw the two words “northern legacy” and couldn’t help but rage their balls off and come here to talk shit on the north. Being from MO, I really don’t give a shit about the N vs. S bullshit and in no way am I defending the north, but southerners always make themselves look like stupid pricks in these arguments. If you knew your state was so much better, you wouldn’t have to come on here and act like everything below the mason-dixon line was crafted by God Himself.

He threw in the “never go below MD line” to piss them off. He did instigate it. However, both the north and south are fantastic in certain respects, and lack in others. Both have excellent public and private schools, and this guy pointing out the better “public” schools was just retarded. There are a lot of Big 10, Big East, and Mid Major public schools that are great in the north, and as I wrote earlier, a whole host of private schools that are great beyond the ivies and MIT.

Hahahahaha at you even comparing the South’s schools to the Northeast. Check average SAT scores, not even close. Even Cornell smokes your southern crapholes. The public schools you listed in defense of the South are laughable. Texas pretty much considers itself its own country and UT-Austin is by far the most liberal place in the South, UGA and UF absolutely suck, Georgia Tech is okay I guess if you want to do engineering, UNC and UVA are obviously good schools, William and Mary is alright. Then you go on to include Penn State but no other Northern State schools. Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois are all top 50 schools and Ohio State and Purdue are just outside the top 50.

Northerners can have as many opinions about us as they want, but we couldnt give a rats ass what they think….I know the South is better and im not going to try to argue with a damnyankee about it.

Yes they do? Harvard University does not, but Harvard College does, even though they are technically the same system.
