Product Reviews by Dorn: Cole Haan Moccasin Drivers
I have been bestowed the opportunity to write reviews for some of my favorite products available at Man Outfitters, for several reasons: 1) I have style and people know it, 2) people look up to me, 3) we have some really sharp merch that needs pushing, and perhaps most importantly, 4) a lot of you dress like total shit and flat-out need my help. I’m all over social media, guys. I see the pics.
Man Outfitters sends me the shirt, pants, shoes, brass knuckles, etc. that I choose to review because I like and endorse them, I wear them around or try them out, assess their quality and style, then I tell you all about it. Easy enough.
We’re kicking off the series with some classic loafers from a classic American shoe brand: Cole Haan moccasin drivers.

In the spirit of transparency, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I’ve never owned a pair of Cole Haans that weren’t classic black dress shoes. In fact, I’ve only owned one pair of loafers in my life. I take my loafer game seriously, very seriously. Know that. Believe that. I find a quality pair and ride them until the wheels fall off, and when they do, I put new wheels on them.
I’ve been wearing the same pair of Bruno Maglis since 2006. Last fall, I’d worn through the sole completely and nearly all the way through to my foot, so I got them re-soled. They’ve always been my go-to shoes for casual to biz-casual. Interestingly, they look a lot like the Cole Haan drivers, minus the driver style sole and heel. I stick to the classics, and these are classic. So, design-wise, I’m a big fan.
Classic look, casual to semi-dressy, sharp — a staple pair of kicks to any wardrobe.
The first thing I noticed when taking them out of the box was the shoes’ light weight. They make my Brunos feel sluggish and clunky by comparison — a plus for an on-the-go natural athlete like myself. I feel like I could dunk on an eight-foot goal with these on.
What good are loafers that aren’t comfortable? I won’t wear them. You’re the same way. I can honestly tell you the comfort level is off the charts in these. They have a cushy leather insole to combine with the rubber driver sole to create a sensation that you’re floating. No bullshit. I’ve been wearing them for three days now and I’m very impressed.
“What about the sweating, asshole? Do your feet smell yet?” Ah yes, the achilles heel of the loafer. A bare foot wrapped in leather creates perspiration and a foul stench. I’m three days in, it’s a balmy 82 degrees out, and I’ve yet to encounter the much maligned sweat issue in these. Maybe it’s coming as I break them in more, maybe it’s not (and if that time comes, that’s why Gekks are a thing – easy fix). But right now, I’m enjoying these while my smelly Brunos sit alone in my cold, dark closet.
These shoes make me want to bail on work and hit the links. Like I said, on-the-go natural athlete.
The Grant Canoe Camp Moccasin Driver by Cole Haan: I highly recommend..
Dorno what pair of Bruno Magli’s do you have? I have two pairs of Ferragamo drivers but they’re not really casual enough to wear with shorts
