PROMO: Commonwealth Birding’s New Line of Apparel and Accessories
If you’re looking for a clothing brand that isn’t merely inspired by the southern lifestyle, but embodies it, Commonwealth Birding is just what you’ve been waiting for. Nothing embodies the southern sentiment better than a crisp autumn day spent in the field with the old 20 gauge side-by-side, a close group of friends, a well trained dog, and of course, your bag limit worth of quail. That is exactly how Commonwealth Birding got its start; guiding upland bird hunts on a working farm, just footsteps away from the former capital of the Confederacy.
After two years of guiding sportsmen, they decided it was time to take their passion to the next level, making a line of products that customers would find equally useful out on the town as they would out in the field. Since the brand’s inception, the folks at Commonwealth Birding have remained true to their convictions and it shows in every product they put their name on. Their brand offers a wide array of goods, ranging from sunglass straps and belts, to tee shirts and dog bowls, all handmade in Greenville, South Carolina.

I am so tired of these new brands. Stick with ST, BB and VV.
14 years ago at 6:30 pmVineyard Vines and Southern Tide are both modern brands. I’m pretty sure VV was created in ’98 and ST in ’06. Brooks Brothers is in a class all its own.
14 years ago at 6:51 pmSouthern Tides a fairly new brand. Let’s not hate
14 years ago at 11:39 pmIts not great, but not bad either.
14 years ago at 6:47 pmI can appreciate this company. Definitely not like the other “fratty” clothing start ups. These guys are legit.
14 years ago at 6:59 pmHmm…let’s think of nostalgic American buzzwords. I know! “Commonwealth!” Right, because South Carolina is a Commonwealth.
@SEC Frat: ST is really just a knockoff of VV. When will anyone admit this?
14 years ago at 7:09 pmSouthern Tide is surpassing VV. Most retailers are selling a wider variety of ST then VV now.
14 years ago at 7:12 pmAccounted for by regional popularity. ST is probably more popular in the south, as it’s based in South Carolina. Obviously, VV is much more popular on Long Island, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, the North Shore, etc. I couldn’t say which is more successful financially at a national level, but my guess would by VV.
14 years ago at 7:14 pmThe company is not located in South Carolina. It’s in Virginia. The clothing is made to their specifications in South Carolina.
14 years ago at 7:30 pmSouthern Tide is more popular at my school in Kansas which isn’t in the south. I agree that it is taking over.
14 years ago at 9:31 pmI go to a school in Kansas and you will mainly see Polo. There aren’t too many stores that sell anything besides that and Lacoste. You have to buy all that stuff online. And ST is putting it’s name out there more, so that’s why you probably see more ST than VV
14 years ago at 9:42 pmi like both brands but come on, are you people fucking stupid ? VV has their OWN stores as far south as memphis all the way up to cape and MV. ST is fine, no where near the classics like RL and BB and still below VV in the new class
14 years ago at 12:21 am@The Waltz
This company is based in Virginia not South Carolina
14 years ago at 2:27 pmThe guy who owns this company is a Hampden-Sydney Alum.
14 years ago at 7:10 pmPreppiest school in the US, FaF
14 years ago at 11:21 pmSecond that. FaF.
14 years ago at 12:10 pmI looove the guys at Hampden-Sydney.
14 years ago at 1:18 pmmmm can i have the fratdaddy in the croakies, please 😉
14 years ago at 7:22 pmnick wells fratting hard every second of his life to make up for all the DGI’s in his frat. FaF.
14 years ago at 9:54 amThe guy is wearing Oakleys…
14 years ago at 7:16 pmOh shit I just made a terrible mistake. Those are definitely not Oakleys and I totally apologize. I will be crucified for this knowing the trollers on this site.
14 years ago at 7:18 pmThey are costas they blacked out the emblem for copyright reasons
14 years ago at 5:46 amThe classics will always be the best. RL Polo, Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, Columbia, and Southern Proper. To compete with the best, you can’t copy what they are doing and put a new logo on it. Southern Tide isn’t very “professional” looking to me and neither is COAST. I’m not discrediting this new brand but at least bring something new
14 years ago at 7:40 pm1. your name is Wylin Out
14 years ago at 9:27 pm2. Polo is what I wore in high school and has completely lost its class. Ex.) rappers wearing it
3. Colombia? yeah its good, but not in the same sentence with Brooks Brothers
4. Southern Tide is pretty damn fratty if you ask me. Who cares about the “professionalism” of the logo
Glad to see you know your 1,2,3s. My name’s Wylin Out because I like to Wyle Out…hard. Polo Classic button downs will always be classy. **Columbia is what I wear on the water, do you wear BB on the water? Why wouldn’t I care about what the logo looks like? Sure ST is “fratty”, but from the sound of it, I guess you don’t care how anything looks as long as it is accepted as “fratty”.
14 years ago at 10:10 pmget this hood rat bullshit out of here, “Wylin Out”
14 years ago at 10:51 pmWyle out… Hard? Are you fucking kidding me.
14 years ago at 11:02 pmHaha “Wylin Out” is a tool
14 years ago at 1:47 amYeah I’m a hood rat! Haha come to St. Simons and we will show you what frattin is all about. Sorry you have to live in a community that is geed infested.
14 years ago at 11:38 amI wear my BB on the water because I’m rich as shit and TFTC.
14 years ago at 3:24 pmI’m sure you make your parents proud… you probably have a closet full of big pony don’t you geed
14 years ago at 2:13 pmThis company actually stands for something unlike these other clothing companies today.
14 years ago at 10:32 pmthey need to stand for something other than making clothes?
14 years ago at 11:47 pmI am not saying they NEED to, but I personally would rather buy from a clothing company that supports the great southern tradition of quail hunting (which is dwindling severely) and also the non-profit organization of Quail Unlimited.
14 years ago at 2:15 pmI know the owners personally and they are first class gentlemen. They are not trying to copy a Southern Tide or Vineyard Vines, they are selling the experience of hunting in the hills of Virginia and the clothing line represents that experience.
14 years ago at 10:45 pmi like it, but a 12 gauge and quail fields with my dog is my idea of a perfect afternoon
14 years ago at 11:23 pm12 Gauge hunting quail=NF. 20 gauge double barrel quail hunting=FaF
14 years ago at 6:55 am20 gauges are for pussies. I graduated to a 12 gauge in the 6th grade.
14 years ago at 6:52 amyeah but obviously you’re a either a gdi or redneck (who believes he’s FaF) if you use 12 gauge for quail. I’ll be suprised if you graduated highschool.
