That is exactly how Commonwealth Birding got its start; guiding upland bird hunts on a working farm, just footsteps away from the former capital of the Confederacy.

After two years of guiding sportsmen, they decided it was time to take their passion to the next level, making a line of products that customers would find equally useful out on the town as they would out in the field. Since the brand’s inception, the folks at Commonwealth Birding have remained true to their convictions and it shows in every product they put their name on. Their brand offers a wide array of goods, ranging from sunglass straps and belts, to tee shirts and dog bowls, all handmade in Greenville, South Carolina.

      Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide are both modern brands. I’m pretty sure VV was created in ’98 and ST in ’06. Brooks Brothers is in a class all its own.

    1. Southern Tide is surpassing VV. Most retailers are selling a wider variety of ST then VV now.

      Accounted for by regional popularity. ST is probably more popular in the south, as it’s based in South Carolina. Obviously, VV is much more popular on Long Island, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, the North Shore, etc. I couldn’t say which is more successful financially at a national level, but my guess would by VV.

      The company is not located in South Carolina. It’s in Virginia. The clothing is made to their specifications in South Carolina.

      I go to a school in Kansas and you will mainly see Polo. There aren’t too many stores that sell anything besides that and Lacoste. You have to buy all that stuff online. And ST is putting it’s name out there more, so that’s why you probably see more ST than VV

      i like both brands but come on, are you people fucking stupid ? VV has their OWN stores as far south as memphis all the way up to cape and MV. ST is fine, no where near the classics like RL and BB and still below VV in the new class

    The classics will always be the best. RL Polo, Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, Columbia, and Southern Proper. To compete with the best, you can’t copy what they are doing and put a new logo on it. Southern Tide isn’t very “professional” looking to me and neither is COAST. I’m not discrediting this new brand but at least bring something new

Polo Classic button downs will always be classy. **Columbia is what I wear on the water, do you wear BB on the water? Why wouldn’t I care about what the logo looks like? Sure ST is “fratty”, but from the sound of it, I guess you don’t care how anything looks as long as it is accepted as “fratty”.

      I am not saying they NEED to, but I personally would rather buy from a clothing company that supports the great southern tradition of quail hunting (which is dwindling severely) and also the non-profit organization of Quail Unlimited.

    I know the owners personally and they are first class gentlemen. They are not trying to copy a Southern Tide or Vineyard Vines, they are selling the experience of hunting in the hills of Virginia and the clothing line represents that experience.
