Recapping The Story Of Racist Snapchat Sent From A Member Of Alabama’s Chi Omega
Yesterday was a total mess. This is my attempt to clean it up as best I can.
We were the first outlet to report on the now infamous leaked Snapchat from a member of Chi Omega at the University of Alabama. It showed three young ladies happily posing for a selfie with the caption: “Chi O got NO niggas!!!!!” followed by a series of emojis that come standard with any 18 to 22-year-old girl’s social media posts. That Snapchat is below.
Soon after we published the story, our inboxes got cluster bombed with new information, most of which was attempting to debunk our story. Unable to verify what was true and what was false, we posted several updates throughout the afternoon and early evening in an attempt to stay on top of the story and remain transparent. As it turns out, all the dissenting information we received was an elaborate damage control ploy. Our original story was accurate.
A fake, distorted version of the Snapchat was even sent to us in an attempt to discredit the entire story. Very, very clever. That version is below. Notice the “gg” in “niggas.”
This is the original image we released, not knowing that it had been strategically altered. A do-gooder graphic designer emailed us to inform us of the image’s faults. He included the below screenshot.
Given all the differing information on our desks, we thought it was best to remove the story entirely.
We can now report the original Snapchat’s authenticity, as confirmed by Chi Omega’s national office on their official Facebook page. The member who posted the Snapchat has been removed from Chi Omega’s Nu Beta chapter at Alabama.
Tuscaloosa’s Fox affiliate breaks it down nicely:
I know this is a serious story and should lack any elements of humor, but this reporter knocking on Chi O’s front door just kind of made me laugh. I’m not even sure why. It could be his sorority babe-ready hair, or that “play it cool” look on his face. Or maybe I imagine a pride of giddy sorority girls opening the door and being greeted by a reporter and news camera, and him asking them, “So, are you guys racist or what?” Just funny.
Lastly, we can confirm that Chi Omega actually pledged two African Americans. This unfortunate Snapchat could very well have been one member’s lapse in judgement, and should not reflect the overall mindset of the sorority.

SOOOOOOO… AAHHHHH…. TELL ME?: HOW’S “CHI O AIN’T GOT NO NINJAS”, SOUNDS MORE LOGICAL AND RATIONAL THAN “CHI O AIN’T GOT NO NIGGAS !!!”….
10 years ago at 11:42 pm????????…… WHERE DO NINJAS COME INTO PLAY, REGARDING MINORITY FEMALES PLEDGING TO BECOME PART OF A {PERDOMINATELY} ANGLO COLORED FEMALE SORORITY?….. CAN SOMEBODY EXPLAIN THE LOGICAL OF THAT?.. . AS I’M MISSING THE “A” TRAIN, ON THIS ONE…
Hnnmmm.
10 years ago at 11:44 pm[…] you may recall, this particular house was stirred up in controversy for using the exact same racial slur in August. It’s hard to fathom why someone would bother putting that word in the official sorority […]
10 years ago at 11:14 amthat picture looks like it was taken off of a “group me”, which means one of the girls turned it in. So all this mess is because some sororstitute got mad at one of her sisters and turned it in and pretty much fucked her entire chapter. Bitches man.
10 years ago at 11:55 amthat being said. If my pledge classes “group me” was ever leaked we would all almost certainly go to prison
10 years ago at 11:59 amBlack girl in the Fox video conveyed a very mature, adult attitude about the whole thing.
10 years ago at 12:18 pm[…] Total Frat Move covered the story back in August of 2014. […]
