Alright, this website is racist. It’s as simple as that. Normally this wouldn’t that big of a deal, it’s just comedy. Racist jokes are funny and there’s nothing inherently wrong with satire.
But when you claim to be an arbiter of decent morals and put shit like this on the front page of your site it’s just blatant hypocrisy. You can’t say things like this and put pictures of confederate flags all over you site and then attempt to distance yourself from things like the racist chants at Oklahoma.
TFM is a part of the fucked up white privilege attitude seen in many frats and they should just admit it. Not to mention the fact that they’re using these semi-racist attitudes as a means to sell tank tops and beer koozies. If you wanna get rich off being bigots fine, but just admit what you’re doing is wrong.

Well, saying someone is racist because they laughed at a racist joke is a little extreme. But for argument’s sake lets say I was a racist. It wouldn’t matter as much because I’m not making money off exploiting these beliefs and personally I don’t have as much influence as TFM does with over a million twitter followers. Moreover, it would be hypocritical if I condemned other people who acted racist while doing so myself.
My question is, how can you condemn something like the Oklahoma SAE chant when you’re simultaneously perpetuating these beliefs yourself and making money in the process?
Sure, a comedian could make racist jokes on stage, get a check in the mail and there wouldn’t be anything seriously wrong with that. But TFM poses as a semi-legitimate news source. So it shouldn’t attempt to distance itself from such things because it is partially responsible for perpetuating them or at the very least profiting off them.
Obviously racism isn’t the main component driving this web site’s success, but unfortunately it’s in the mix.
i don’t understand why everybody thinks having the confederate flag is racist. it is a flag. it signified a time when the country was divided and literally two different entities. People nowadays just fly it because they feel proud of coming from those states that were part of the south, not because they are racist. what the fuck happened to the first amendment in this country….
Why does everyone go straight to slavery with that every time? Yes the southern states still had slaves at the time but the civil war was not just about slavery. there was a number of other things that contributed…
Freedom of speech/expression Is being shit on by the leaders of our country. I know for a fact that towns and organizations have banned it. I mean for fucks sake the American flag is being banned for being offensive…
That was at a school. As stupid as that is, it is a PRIVATE ORGANIZATION and they can do as they please. Its really no different than a private law firm requiring business professional dress. Is banning the American flag horrid? Yes? Would it be legal for Taco bell to ban the flying of American, or any other flags in their restaurants? Also, yes,That’s called freedom too bucko. As for towns banning the flying of the Confederate flag, the number must be very low. I have not heard of any (although I’m sure there are some) but then again I don’t really care one way or the other for that flag. While I agree it is not necessarily supporting slavery, it does come with at least a little bit of a negative connotation.
Ah yes. The poisonous plague of “white privilege” also results in little to no participation in riots, zero food stamps, and…you guessed it, NOT being offended by satirical websites.
