As a BYX member I will admit this is the wrong way to evangelize. No where in the Bible does it say to look for trouble and be quarrelsome. If anything, this aggressiveness causes people to turn away from God. It can be put in the category with the Westboro Baptist Church and people who give Christians a bad name.
Proclaim doesn’t mean offend people and yell across lawns at people who you believe to be sinning. Did Jesus evangelize that way? Exactly. Try again bud.
no, because she’s going about it all the wrong way. Jesus didn’t evangelize by telling people they were going to go to hell; he befriended everyone and was kind to them, being an example of God’s love. I show my Christian love for others by going out to parties and making sure all my sisters get home safe. I set a good example by not drinking (much), but I don’t call out people for doing so. It is God’s job to judge us, not this crazy lady’s or anyone else’s.
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? ” Matthew 7:1-7
Agreed, sigma_sailor. Everyone is on their own personal journey of faith and no one but God can say where in that journey we are, or what is in our heart that makes us do what we do, or deserve the forgiveness that He gives. These people twist the words of the Bible to suit their needs and are, in my opinion, the predominant reason that faithlessness is the choice made by people. God is about love, not hell, not hate, and is definitely not about crazy religious zealots.
“Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.”
