Rutgers Basketball Tries To Send Out An Impressive Recruiting Tweet, Fails Miserably

When it comes to recruiting, it’s a cutthroat world out there. You either eat or get eaten. When you’re a program like Rutgers, you usually get eaten. But not anymore — if their social media team has anything to say about it. Knowing recruits like money, they tweeted out the following…

So what if the majority of those players didn’t actually attend Rutgers? A recruit isn’t going to know the difference between Rutgers, UConn and Pitt when you toss around the “billion” word. It doesn’t even matter that the coaches that were with those players at these other schools were just assistants to the head honcho at the time either. Nope, because those coaches are at Rutgers now, which means business is a boomin’ in New Jersey.

I don’t think you can just claim things like this. That’s not how any of this works. Just like A&M can’t claim those phantom national and Big 12 championships they were grasping at a few years back. Maybe they just understand their target market: athletes who aren’t too concerned with academics and who you can just flash big money at so that they won’t realize their mistake until they sign the dotted line. If that’s the case, bravo, Rutgers — you really are nailing this whole recruiting thing.

So if you want to be coached by an assistant who used to be an assistant at a prestigious school, then Rutgers might be the right place for you.

At least Rutgers is a decent school. Some of those dumbasses going for the money and sports might learn something.
