Chuck Keating was a lot of things to a lot of people. To his hometown, he was a star athlete. To countless wounded veterans, a reason to live again. And to all of us, a true American hero.

When a group of a dozen US military advisors came under attack from over 100 ISIS militants on May 3, Keating was part of the task force sent to save them. Every advisor made it out safely. Keating did not.

From Navy Times:

“He gave his life to protect his brothers,” Keating’s younger brother, Billy, also an enlisted SEAL, told mourners at Coronado’s Tidelands Park.

Keating, a star runner growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, decided he wanted to join the service right after the 9/11 attacks. The decorated warrior said he joined the SEALs because “it was the hardest thing he could do.” He was awarded a Posthumous Silver Star for his valorous actions on May 3.

Keating fought for the lives of his brothers-in-arms from the home front as well. He was the “Godfather” of URT, an organization dedicated to designing custom surfboards for injured veterans. According to its website, URT is named after the sound a seal makes as well as a bridge between land and water.

To memorialize Keating — and to raise money for the cause to which he devoted his life — URT released a limited edition “Chuck Heavy” tee shirt. For just $25, you can pick up this badass tee while supporting an awesome cause.
