Shots Fired At Western Michigan University Fraternity Party

Fraternity parties have been known to get out of hand from time to time. It’s just kind of their thing. When alcohol, girls, and a fraternity house are thrown into the mix, you can expect some pretty great results. Obviously, there’s no precise formula. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Raging is an art, not a science.

However, there are a couple things you should never do at a party. I’m not talking about taking down a fat chick. While not admirable, it’s forgivable. I’m talking about something that’s a little bit worse and a lot more illegal. I’m talking about shooting people.

One fraternity at Western Michigan University kind of screwed this one up, and by kind of, I mean completely. According to neighbors, a fight broke out in the early hours of September 22 at the fraternity house in question. One witness, Clint Parker, who we can safely assume isn’t affiliated with the fraternity, said that at one point in the evening, “things got crazy” at the fraternity house next door.

“I heard a crash, like glass breaking. Then I heard gunshots. First I thought they were fire crackers, and then I saw people running,” Parker said. “I ran inside my house after that.”

Also, you probably shouldn’t describe a situation at a fraternity party by saying “things got crazy.” That can mean a lot of things. Were people getting shot or did someone just shotgun a beer, jump off the roof into the pool, resurface, and yell, “Reagan Bush 84!” while wearing nothing but a cape and wielding an old cavalry saber? Crazy can mean a lot of things.

Within minutes, the cops arrived and more than 20 patrol cars were in the street nearby, adjacent to the Fraternity Village. Fortunately, nobody was seriously hurt. However, two individuals did receive non-life threatening injuries. A 20-year-old man took a round to the leg, and a 20-year-old woman was wounded in her back, possibly as a result of flying glass.

According to Parker, who is apparently an incredibly observant neighbor, considering he wasn’t at the party, the shooting occurred after several uninvited guests showed up and started a fight. Fucking randos, man. Always showing up at the door, trying to get in, and inciting violence that leads to gunfire.

Parker’s roommate, Nick Tultz, also had a few words about the incident. According to him, the fraternity house in question throws parties regularly, but they rarely get this out of control.

“I mean it’s a frat house, so they know how to party,” Tultz said.

You’re damned right they do.

It’s not currently known who fired the shots, as the incident is still being investigated. All I know is that there’s a chapter at Western Michigan University with an extremely pissed Risk Manager.

I’ll bet ten bucks he’s half Australian Aborigine, half Polynesian. It always is.

Bacon, this is irrelevant to this article but you look exactly like the nerdy guy they always make fun of in entourage.

Well, seeing as it occurred at a party with multiple people, I would be willing to bet it wasn’t TKE.

Sucks to have this kind of news get out about the Greek community at WMU. This fraternity was Phi Beta Sigma, a Multicutural Greek Council member who doesn’t even take part in IFC/PanHel events. Don’t know much about them other than this news article.

I used to voyage up to Wastern last school year to visit highschool friends of mine.. The place has a very infamous reputation to go from routine to DEFCON-grade sketchy in the same amount of time it takes Bacon to finish off Dorn’s mother.

Oh, by the way; the fraternity is heavily African-American oriented. I’m not a big fan of stereotypes, but this definitely doesn’t help their case any.

It’s a good thing Officer Storm had the night off, or this wouldn’t have gone down so smooth…
