Sigma Nu At OU Will Soon Have The Nicest House In The Country
Per a tipster who brought this to our attention, “Sigma Nu at the University of Oklahoma is building a new house that essentially looks like a 5-star hotel.”
Well said. It legitimately does look like a 5-star boutique hotel you would find in the historic district of some charming U.S. destination city. My initial reaction, other than the obvious HOLY SHIT!, is that I really love the L-shape design with the front entrance and patio areas being on the corner. Naturally, they are going with the classic red brick facade that is a staple of American fraternity houses. Very sharp.
From the chapter’s website:
The future Sigma Nu house will be in the same location at 1300 College Ave as it has been for the last 40 years. The architect, Steven Newby (ΔE 1373), is the grandson of the chapter’s founder Errett Newby (ΔE 1).
Unfortunately, this is the only rendering I’m able to find. I also can’t track down any specific details of the house. As noted in the above photo, the home is scheduled to be completed some time this year, so you’d have to think the construction is well under way at this point. I just can’t find any photos of this fraternal palace anywhere.
Here’s a photo of their lot I found on the chapter Facebook page, but that’s it:
The fraternity arms race is a fun one to watch. Houses just keep getting bigger and better as the never-ending battle of landing bluechip rushees never takes a day off. Let’s hope these guys are able to contain their excitement and hang onto their new house, unlike the poor bastards of Virginia Tech’s Sig Ep chapter who had to hand over the keys to their brand new $5 million house to independents.

That looks more like a Frat Estate than a Frat House.
12 years ago at 4:43 pmThey’ll probably end up losing it to a bunch of geeds
12 years ago at 4:49 pmNow this is a fucking Frat Castle.
12 years ago at 5:21 pmThat’s pretty neat!
12 years ago at 5:39 pmSigma Nu building another Marriott hotel eh? Guess that works for them.
12 years ago at 6:03 pmit was supposed to begin construction two semesters ago to be done by 2013, or at least thats what they promised during fall 2012 rush. also told fall 2011 it would be done by 2012. ill believe it when i see it.
12 years ago at 6:09 pmNot true. The chapter was dormant in 2011, recolonized last fall with 60 guys. Never said anything last fall other than groundbreaking in 2013 and ready for the fall, 2014.
12 years ago at 6:23 pmFrat on bros. LHT.
12 years ago at 6:33 pmThey currently have about 15 members. Their president rushed last semester. They have not even bebroke ground yet. And its gonna be done in 2013? Horse shit.
12 years ago at 10:02 pmYou’re an idiot. They recruited 60 guys in the fall and 8 more in the spring. The president rushed in the fall. Groundbreaking will be in August, 2013 and the house will be ready in August, 2014. Why do you tell lies? Are you afraid of them?
12 years ago at 6:13 pm^ How’s the house going?
11 years ago at 3:21 pmThis is a massive house, but I still don’t think any house can touch Mizzou Beta or FSU Pike. Hell, this won’t even be the best fraternity house in Norman after it’s built.
12 years ago at 10:38 pmToo bad that chapter is total shit…
