Greg Alia will be remembered as many things. A loving husband. A caring father to an infant son. A brave police officer who gave his life protecting his community. And to the brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa at the University of South Carolina, he will be remembered as one of the men who made the best years of their lives possible: a founding father of their fraternity.

Alia was shot dead on the line of duty last week while attempting to apprehend a suspect. After responding to a report of a suspicious man in a mall parking lot, the suspect became uncooperative, and fled into the mall. Alia chased him on foot, and after engaging in a struggle, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Alia.

The brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa and Patrick Walsh, an alumni of the fraternity, started a GoFundMe page to support the Alia family. In under a week, the page has raised over $185,000, just shy of the $200,000 goal. Donate here.

Founding a chapter is no easy feat, and it’s amazing to think that something Alia started back in college is now providing love and support for his wife and child after he is gone. The bond between fraternity brothers — the bond he established for so many men after him — is something truly special. Something that lives beyond the grave. A brother’s family becomes your family, especially in a time of need. And for this chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa, it is a family made possible by the dedication of Alia.

Is it wrong that I want that BLM asshole in the other thread to comment here so we can tear him apart?

Almost to 200k, that’s enough to help his wife financially stay afloat while she emotionally recovers, and there’s enough there to put aside for his little boy to go to college.

While it won’t bring back her husband and his father, it looks like they’ve got a lot of brothers making sure they’re going to be alright.

    Little dusty in here…

Eh, fuck ’em. Not like any profit they’d make from the story would go to something useful too.
