Space Shuttle Endeavour Takes a Power Lap Before Reaching Final Resting Place

NASA is just so freaking badass it makes me want to get a running start and jump off the roof of TFM headquarters to see how far I can fly.

Endeavour, the now retired U.S. space shuttle, has been around the galaxy a time or two, and now it’s her time to hang up the ol’ rocket boosters, as they say. She could have just cruised off into space for retirement, but she wanted our country to catch a lasting glimpse of her, so she called on a 747 to give her a lift, piggyback style. Endeavour took off first from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, then began cruising by different U.S. cities flying low like the bad bitch she is, just strutting her shit like a barely-clothed supermodel working a runway in heels.

The retired orbiter, mated to the space agency’s modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) took off from the Kennedy Space Center’s Shuttle Landing Facility, which was the same runway where Endeavour made its 25th and final return from space in June 2011. The 7:22 a.m. EDT liftoff marked the start of the final ferry flight for the 30-year space shuttle program.

I know she flew through Austin, Houston, and a slew of Florida cities. Her final destination will be Los Angeles where she’ll be displayed in a museum.

Imagine how big the punching bags must be on the engineer that was like, “Yeah, so we just strapped her to the top of this big ass jumbo jet. Hope it holds….hahahahaHAHAHAHA. No, but really, she should hold up just fine.”

Who wouldn’t? And bonus, she has to swallow. Can’t have space semen floating around and getting all the instruments sticky
