Tampa Bay Rays Face Media Backlash After Claiming To Have Killed Steve Irwin, Sort Of
Last night, while the Tampa Bay Rays were in the midst of orchestrating a one-run comeback against the Baltimore Orioles, their mascot Raymond was busy finding himself in quite the morally compromising position behind the team’s dugout.
After taking hold of and displaying a sign brought into Tropicana Field courtesy of an apparently hilarious fan, Raymond and the Rays organization have been met with backlash from fans and media alike. Evidently they don’t sympathize with the kind of lewd humor that so many of you guys on here relish.
The politically correct Rays were quick to release a statement on the matter:
Last night Rays mascot Raymond was handed an inappropriate sign brought to the game by a fan. Fans are welcome to bring signs into Tropicana Field provided they are not offensive. The Tampa Bay Rays regret that this particular sign was displayed in the ballpark, and we apologize for the lapse in judgment.
You know what, Rays, no need to apologize to me, I found this hilarious.
Anybody with a decent sense of humor will have a good chuckle at this – that’s the kind of fun and games we play around here. Wooh.
