Tennessee’s “Rock” Vandalized, Says “Roll Tide”

Looks like Alabama is up to no good again.

These days, universities nation-wide have taken to various forms of social media to get messages across to their students, utilizing twitter, Facebook, and even old standbys such as email blasts. The University of Tennessee instead uses a rock, presumably because of a lack of electricity, high speed internet, or something along those lines. After years of fighting graffiti, the university embraced the rock and it has become “a canvas for student messages” and various groups and causes use it for publicity.

Not relevant football-wise really since Peyton Manning was in college, Tennessee and its rock were still subject to some vandalism this week as someone painted it crimson, stenciled “Roll Tide Roll” in white, and then freehanded “Go 2 Hell TN” underneath and “RMFT” for “Roll Mutha Fuckin’ Tide” on the side. While this may seem a bit repetitive, they certainly wanted to make sure they got their point across.

The message was definitely received and @JamStrickland & @DandyAndy110 caught this one for the masses. They are using images of it to fire up the Volunteer community so even if the rock gets painted over in time the pain will linger on. Perhaps now, banded together, they at least won’t lose too horribly to the #1 team in the country.
