Texas A&M Students Form Human Wall, Fully Redeem Themselves
It brings me great joy to report that the proud students of Texas A&M University have not just recovered from the embarrassing debacle from earlier this week, but have fully redeemed themselves. Many are aware of the batshit crazy members of the Westboro Baptist Church. Part of their “mission from God” is to protest the funerals of our military members because of an oddly-misplaced, staunchly anti-homosexual sentiment of the church. They celebrate their deaths with picket signs like, “Thank God for IEDs.” Truly despicable people. Their next stop was going to be College station, TX.
On June 28, Lt. Col. Roy Tisdale, a Texas A&M alum, was killed during a training exercise at Fort Bragg by another solder who then shot himself. The Westboro Baptist Church, known for protesting soldier’s funerals with anti-gay messages, posted plans to show up at Tisdale’s funeral on their website.
The Aggies decided they were having none of that.
A fellow “Aggie”, Ryan Slezia, came up with a plan to create a human wall to block any protesters from getting near the funeral, and invited fellow Texas A&M students and alum to join. One participant tweeted that over 650 people showed up in maroon shirts to create a “maroon wall”. It appears that the Westboro protestors never showed up.
Chalk up a big win here for the Aggies, who needed some solid PR on the heels of the unfortunate viral video that left the SEC with thoughts of buyers’ remorse. Well done.

12 years ago at 9:18 amWhen they protested the harrisburg tornado, there was 800 students at the counter protest and one of the WBC who left within twenty minutes. SIU actually chartered buses to bring people out to the counter protest.
