Texas Bars Caught Selling Cheap Booze As High-End Alcohol

A whole bunch of Texas bars just got caught pulling a trick out of the college party playbook. They’ve been putting shitty booze in high-end liquor bottles. Classic.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission tested alcoholic beverages at 68 retailers across the state. Twenty-one of the establishments are allegedly scheming bastards.

“Operations Bottom Up” found violations at four bars in Houston, which was the most of any of the cities. Not far behind was A&M’s own College Station where three establishments also had violations.

This is why I have trust issues. Instead of buying a high-end drink for $10, I ingest 10 shitty beverages for a nickel a piece just in case. You can never be too careful.

Somehow, no bars in Austin had violations.

The names of establishments won’t be released until formal charges are filed, but here’s the full list of cities where the violations were found:

Odessa
Addison
Mesquite
Dallas
Fort Worth
Irving
College Station (3 bars)
Conroe (2 bars)
Houston (4 bars)
Katy
El Paso
McAllen (2 bars)
San Antonio

I’m shocked that only one bar in Dallas was found guilty of this given Uptown’s asinine prices for a drink.
