Texas IFC Adds Sensitivity Clause To Code Of Conduct, Dean Of Students Has List Of Acceptable Party Themes

In the wake of the backlash from FIJI’s border patrol theme party, IFC at the University of Texas is doing their best to reshape their image into a more politically correct one. The university did not punish FIJI for their actions because they deemed that it was not their responsibility. With that in mind, Texas IFC added a new clause to their code of conduct that would punish this kind of action in the future.

From The Odyssey:

The new code, which passed unanimously in a vote among IFC member fraternities, states that the fraternities will “exhibit cultural sensitivity and will respect all cultures, races, ethnicities, and religions.” The previous code had no specific mention of culture, though it did disallow inappropriate conduct and called for member fraternities to maintain integrity and honor.

Think of this as a school giving themselves sanctions instead of the NCAA dropping the hammer on them. The school gets all the praise for reporting themselves and there is little to no backlash. I would say that, for the most part, the majority of Greeks already do respect all cultures, races, etc. Adding this formality into the code of conduct is just another way of covering our ass and making some good P.R. among the national media.

According to College Fix, the dean of students released this list of acceptable and non-acceptable parties earlier in the year.

OffensiveList

NonOffensiveList

There you have it folks; this is the definitive go-to list of what you can and cannot throw. At least, that’s what this Dean wants you to believe. To be honest, I’ve never even heard of a porn stars and porn directors party.

I have a feeling that a few of those on the “not acceptable” list won’t go punished — golf pros and tennis hos being one of those. I think that’s a staple among every fraternity. My fraternity just called it something different.

I can kind of understand the racial themed ones but “Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes” really? That’s a staple party theme. Can’t be promoting that wealth inequality apparently…

What’s offensive about Aristocrats and Trophy Wives? Sounds pretty ideal to me…
And I’m pretty sure Viva Las Vegas can be used interchangeably with “Millionaires and Mistresses, Pimpos and Ho’s”, well pretty much everything.

Yea, call one of the most popular forms of artistic expression offensive. Porn stars, directors and camera men, are hardworking members of our society. And don’t even pretend like you don’t watch porn, Dean Wormer. Just don’t.
