Full disclosure: this title was strategically ambiguous. It was a cheap web traffic grab. Sorry about it. Gotta pull in clicks from the girls hoping their college football heartthrob didn’t get canned. They need Kliff on the sidelines. Hell, I need Kliff on the sidelines. Don’t worry, ladies. Your boy didn’t get fired. His defensive coordinator, however, did.

Second year DC Matt Wallerstedt has been fired after being in the TTU football facilities under the influence of “an unknown substance.” Interpret that phrase however you please. I take it to mean he was high out of his mind.

From ESPN:

Texas Tech fired defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt after the coach was suspected of being under the influence of an unknown substance while on campus, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Wallerstedt was sent home from the facility Monday, according to a source.

This news comes after the Red Raiders suffered a devastating 49-28 loss to Arkansas, where Wallerstedt’s defense surrendered 438 rushing yards. Texas Tech officials maintain the termination is solely due to him being stoned/drunk/both on campus, and has nothing to do with the performance of the Tech defense.

Perhaps he needed to get ripped to numb the pain of his shitty defense. This reminds me of Fat Bastard’s brutal cycle of eating because he’s unhappy and being unhappy because he eats. Maybe Wallerstedt can’t stop doing drugs because his defense sucks, or is it that his defense sucks because he can’t stop doing drugs? Fuck, I don’t know. It’s a theory.

Knowing I’ll never be Kliff Kinsbury makes me drink. Drinking means I’ll never be Kliff Kingsbury.

Kliff is 35 and single. Perfect, considering hes raking in 3 mil and conveniently living in a collegetown.

He should have remained silent and walked away and lawyered up. He’d still have a job.
