Don't Mess With Texas: Texas Open Is Wrecking Havoc On Golfers

The Valero Texas Open kicked off in San Antonio yesterday and the course is wrecking havoc on some golfers. First, Aaron Baddeley hit an errant tee shot on the 17th hole before returning to the tee box and holing out.

You have got to admit, though. That’s still one hell of a feat to walk up to the tee after hooking a shot into the abyss and just knocking it in the hole from 336 yards out. Aaron needed the extra two strokes to finish as the 18-hole leader, unfortunately.

Holes 11 and 12 were equally hard on golfers. On 11, Troy Merritt teed off with his 2-iron. What happened next is something that I have never seen in golf.

Seriously, how does that happen? Is he playing balls made of steel? Maybe he should start playing with blades. His tee shot ended up only going 155 yards, leading to a bogey.

Would the course stop there? Why would it? Hole 12 decided to mess with Phil Mickelson. Hitting out of a fairway bunker with an 8-iron, the head of his club broke off.

Graeme McDowell was even seen putting with his wedge before withdrawing. What the heck is going on in San Antonio? I guess the saying rings true: Don’t mess with Texas.

stolen joke from Deadspin comments. Cant really blame you though, the TFM writers steal most of their content from Deadspin as well.

I am probably the only person to have Baddeley on my fantasy golf team this week. I wish people would pick me for their fantasy football teams :'(
