The Late Dean Smith Seriously Left Money To All Of His Former Players In His Will
Dean Smith: legendary coach and all-around great guy. When he passed away on February 7, he left behind a lot more than his on-court legacy. Dean was a genuine man that cared about his players on and off the court. To him, they were more like sons than just players who were helping him win championships. He built a family environment at UNC en route to 879 wins while in Chapel Hill — which still ranks fourth all-time among coaches.
Well, it turns out Smith decided to make one last awesome gesture for the family that he built. He left all of his former players a nice gift in his will. About 180 of his former players all received a check for $200 with the notation “Dinner out.”
Coach Smith willed his trust to send a $200 check to each his former players following his passing. #DeanSmith pic.twitter.com/NyiBhU9taQ

What better way to leave one last impression on the boys he helped mold into men. What a classy move by Coach Dean. He truly was one of the greats. May he rest in peace..
