The Lonely Island Pays Tribute To Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire In This Major League Banger Of The Summer

With hits such as “I’m On A Boat,” “I Just Had Sex,” and “Jizz In My Pants,” The Lonely Island is essentially The Beatles of parody groups. Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone may not be making hits at quite the rate they did around seven or so years ago, but apparently they’re doing the live show thing these days, serving up nostalgia of the mid-2000s variety.

In a new song that they debuted last weekend at some comedy festival called Clusterfest in Pasadena, The Lonely Island paid tribute to home run (and steroid) crushing MLB legends Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Even “Joe Montana” made a special appearance.

From Yahoo! Sports:

Comedic band The Lonely Island, best known for its digital shorts on “Saturday Night Live” including the hit single “I’m on a Boat,” debuted a new Bash Brothers-themed song at its first ever live performance Sunday night.

Bay Area natives and Oakland Athletics mega-fans Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone took the stage in Pasadena, California, as Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and Joe Montana. Their digital backdrop was complete with fake stats, baseball cards and player footage.

Check out clips from the unnamed track below:

Not since “We Like Sportz” has The Lonely Island made such a relevant sports-related banger. I mean, once the song officially drops, you’ll probably want to go ahead and add it to your official porch drinking playlist.

If you’re hoping to crush ‘tang like Joe Cool, that is.
