The Newest College Football Video Game Sounds Exhausting
It’s hard to believe, but it’s now been close to five years since the final release of the NCAA Football franchise. NCAA was, and probably still is, the greatest game ever made. Even to this day, I still can often be found toggling the Road to Glory menu on NCAA 14 pretending that I made something of myself.
It’s a reminder of a simpler time: exploiting the likeness of some defenseless college kid without everyone getting up in arms about it. Luckily though, it appears that there is a company out there ready to turn back the clock. These cats over at iMackulate Vision Gaming say they have a new college football game in development, and it will be ready by 2020.
In a press release posted to their website, here is what they had to say about the product.
iMackulate Vision Gaming (iMackulate or “IMV”), is excited to announce that plans are underway towards “Gridiron Champions,” a college football video game which anticipates filling the void in today’s marketplace with an expected launch date of 2020 which gamers will be able to purchase and use via digital download through services like the PlayStation, Xbox and Steam on-line stores priced at $59.99.
Gridiron Champions will offer a unique experience to gamers by allowing them the opportunity to customize player uniforms, stadiums, fan atmosphere and recreate pageantry though this unique college football experience. “There is no college football game on the market that offers a creative experience like Gridiron Champions and we’re excited to be the first to hit the marketplace in 2020, “said Alex Lewis, CEO of IMV.
Over 1,300 gamers have purchased Gridiron Champions as pre-launch item since May 2017. While the game will soon be available to view through a featured demo/video, continued gamer pre-launch sales are offered through their website at imackulatevisiongaming.com.
Shouts to these guys for some very innovated thinking. They have essentially loopholed the shit out of the whole system. By creating a user experience where everything is customizable, they are giving users the ability to create exact replicas of real life college teams without having to get licensing. Those sneaky bastards.
It’s not under their control whether or not you decide to create a conference called the Big 10 and use the names of players from Ohio State. And they’re definitely not liable if your friend does the same thing by creating a Big 12 with the University of Texas. That’s all up to the imagination of the user.
Hopefully this all works out for IMV Gaming as they work to get this to market. Is having to create the whole college football universe ideal? Of course not, but I guess it’s better than no game at all. They even have hinted at making a basketball version if the football one doesn’t suck. Good luck, guys. We’re all rooting for you..
