The Rowdiest Student Sections In College Football According To USA Today
The fellas over at USA Today Sports compiled a list of the best student sections in college football. Did your school make it? Take a look:
10. Texas Tech – Jones AT&T Stadium
In my humble opinion, this student section should be a little higher on the list. It’s filled with a bunch of drunks who yell obscenities while tossing tortillas into the air. The folks in Lubbock pride themselves on how many benches they can break — it’s a crazy scene. I love it.
9. Oregon – Autzen Stadium
Autzen’s “pit crew” is loud, and I mean really loud. These guys also managed to set up a beer pong table inside their student section. Where else have you seen that?
8. Alabama – Bryant Denny Stadium
These students will violently tell you they deserve to be number one. I will give them this: they have one of the best chants in all of sports in “Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer.”
7. UCLA – Rose Bowl
My only guess at how UCLA made this list is because the nerds out there have so much pent up energy from studying all week that they show it on Saturdays.
6. Florida – Ben Hill Griffen Stadium AKA The Swamp
When they aren’t adjusting their jorts, they’re doing the gator chomp and being obnoxious at one of the nation’s best home field advantage stadiums.
5. Ohio State – Ohio Stadium AKA The Horseshoe
Unfortunately for them, these guys can’t bring the Shoe’s student section magic to BCS games.
4. LSU – Tiger Stadium AKA Death Valley
Home to this guy. Nuff said.

3. Penn State – Beaver Stadium
Back in 2004, they started the “white out” tradition. I’m guessing it was foreshadowing what the NCAA was going to do to their wins as a result of the Sandusky scandal. Shit, you can’t even wear a different jersey in this student section without nearly getting your ass kicked.
2. Wisconsin – Camp Randall Stadium
Home to the famous “Jump Around” tradition. If you started to play this song in the middle of class, the students would all get out of their chairs and start going nuts.
1. Texas A&M – Kyle Field
You can’t really argue against A&M being number one, as the school set the record for student section attendance and then broke its own record the next two home games. Not only that, but you have nearly 40,000 cult members yelling–because apparently they don’t cheer–the same exact thing. It might be the most annoying thing in the world, but damn is it effective.
It’s no surprise that the majority of these teams are typically among the nation’s best at home..

I’m sorry but UCLA’s student section is just depressing

11 years ago at 6:48 pmDid you write this two years ago? The Ohio State sanctions have been gone for a while now, and the BCS doesn’t exist anymore.
11 years ago at 11:14 amFirst off, Oregon’s student section is not called the the Pit Crew. Thats for basketball. Second, Oregon should be higher than that. I can guarantee that it is much louder and rowdier than most of these listed. And third, UCLA has the worst excuse of a student section I have ever seen. I’ve been to the Rose Bowl and sat next to their student section and can tell you that it was just a bunch of asians casually clapping their hands.
11 years ago at 1:44 pmWhy, in an article praising student sections, did you go out of your way to insult Ohio state? Seems rather desperate.
Btw, we have the best record in the BCS era so nice try.
