There Might Be A Serial Sniper In Arizona Which Is Terrifying News For Phoenix Residents

In the latest instance of domestic terrorism, a serial sniper is assumed to be responsible for nine shootings over the past 10 days on an eight mile stretch of I-10 outside of Phoenix.

The shootings began on Aug. 29, with the latest one coming on Tuesday — when a bullet shattered the window of a police officer’s personal vehicle while he was on his way to work.

Colonel Frank Milstead, director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said the attacks continued following two possible shootings early Tuesday on Interstate 10, the southernmost transcontinental highway in the U.S.

The shootings began on Aug. 29 along a roughly 10-mile segment of the highway when gunfire shattered the windshield of a sport utility vehicle, authorities said.

A 13-year-old girl sustained a minor cut to her right ear, the only injury that has been reported.

“It’s just a matter of time, if this continues, that we have tragedy on our roadways,” Milstead said at a news conference.

Authorities also announced on Tuesday that a reward fund has been increased to $20,000 from $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Holy shit this is terrifying. I remember living on the east coast in 2002 when the Beltway sniper attacks occurred. Before being apprehended, the shooter, John Allen Muhammed, killed 17 people and injured 10 more. It was surreal to see just how scared people were to leave their homes during that time because no one could pinpoint where the next attack was going to happen. I also remember the sense of relief everyone in the neighborhood felt when the attackers were finally arrested. Muhammed was eventually executed in 2009.

Stay vigilant on the road, Arizonans. Or just avoid I-10 altogether until this mess is over. Hopefully police catch this asshole before any lives are lost..
