This Map Shows The Most Desirable Colleges Per State

Infographic maps that start arguments are always great material, and this one will certainly accomplish that. The website eCollegeFinder put together the below map. It reveals which American colleges are the “most desirable” within the states they reside. The results are based on “which college received the most undergraduate applications in the fall of 2013,” using data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ Database.

Most of the results will come as no surprise, but there are some shockers in here.

Bama is only on this list because you can be an inbred fuck with the IQ of a monkey and still get in.

Auburn has a 74% acceptance rate. Bama has a 52% acceptance rate. So which school is harder to get into again?

You do realize that without knowing the mean applicant GPA and standardized test scores at each school those statistics mean nothing, don’t you? Alabama’s admission percentage is lower because they get applications from every imbred shit in the state. The dumb fucks from Opp High School aren’t applying to Auburn because they know they won’t get in. They’ll send an application off to Tuscaloosa because they know they’ve at least got a shot at admission.

Bama has a higher four year graduation rate and higher percentage of girls. Long story short, Auburn is shit and people would rather go to bama

So what this shit argument tells me is that it is easier to graduate from Alabama. I’ll give you the higher percentage of girls, but now we’re talking quantity not quality so who gives a fuck. Finally, if by “people” you mean “imbred fuck stains” then I’ll agree with you, “people” would rather go to bama, which is good because those “people” couldn’t get into Auburn.

Alabama changed the drinking age to 32 in order to keep alcohol out of high school

OSU for Oklahoma? Was this list comprised solely of Community College transfer applicants?

      Thats funny.

OSU has one of the top ranked student unions in the nation.

The interior design program is ranked top 10 in the nation.

The school of Hotel and restaurant administration is ranked 8th out of 100 programs in the world.

The school of entrepreneurship is ranked 10th in the world.

The veterinary PhD program ranks in the top 50 percent in US.

The OSU provides programs for hands on training and is recognized as a research university and a Truman Honor Institution.

The wrestling team holds 34 national championships.

The OSU cheerleading team, both large and small coed, have won numerous national championships.

This is just a short list of a few reasons why OSU is desirable. Not saying that OU isn’t, but OSU has a lot to be proud of. I was accepted to both institutions and after touring chose OSU because quite frankly Norman is full of pretentious jerks who find their worth in their greek affiliation and think they’re entitled to respect because the football team is good, even though they don’t play and know little about their team history.

Also, in response to “There’s only one Oklahoma”
        I will say thank God.

No one said OSU was undesirable, its just less desirable. Lets do a minor play-by-play of all the bullshit you just spewed. First off “top # 10 entrepreneurship in the world”. Spears doesn’t make USNR, Forbes, or Bloomberg’s top 25 National rankings let alone international. Secondly, Interior Design….seriously? Thirdly, “Hotel and Restaurant Administration” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the cook at waffle house go on and on about how great their B.A. in HRA is working out for them.

I’ll give you that OSU has one of the best Vet. programs in the nation however, note this map was composed of “undergraduate” programs. So the Ph.D programs and vet programs are trivial. As far as Undergraduate degree programs lets look at the Energy Management Program which was the first one in the nation and has a median starting salary of around 75K, or our Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy ranked #3 in the nation for petroleum engineering.

As far as sports goes, OSU obviously has a great wrestling program but in Oklahoma Football is king, and always will be. Which as you know OU has 7 National Championships, 5 Heisman winners, 43 conference championships, and most importantly 84-17 against the pokes. Again, no one said OSU was not desirable. Just less desirable.

This is a stupid way to measure “most desirable.” Rutgers over Princeton in New Jersey, UCLA over Stanford in California, Marquette over Wisconsin in Wisconsin, UCF over UF in Florida, Penn State over Upenn, no Harvard, etc. Some of the best schools in the nation got left out, and you can’t tell me that if given the choice you wouldn’t want to go to a school like Stanford.

Just because they are the best schools in the nation, does not make them the most desirable schools to attend. Yes I agree this way of measuring “most desirable” schools is flawed, but so are most statistics.

      1. Nice Try

No, the best are the most desirable. This list is flawed because its based on number of applications, which only partially reflects desirability. Regular folks aren’t going to apply to Ivy Leagues, but Ivy Leaguers apply to many schools.

While slightly interesting (had no idea Vanderbilt would be above Tennessee or Duke above UNC), the title of this article could not be less accurate. Don’t try so hard for hits.

IU is clearly above ND because of the vast greek culture at IU and the lack of which at ND
