Throwback Thursday: TFM’s Top Masters Moments

TFM’s favorite sporting event of the year started today. I took it upon myself to compile a list of famous, inspirational, historic, or otherwise bad ass Masters moments throughout history and took an office poll to decide our top 5. Here’s what we came up with.

Tiger becomes youngest Masters champion ever in 1997 while destroying the rest of the field.

Bobby Jones retiring from golf at 28 to be a lawyer, after betting on himself to win the Grand Slam, then winning the Grand Slam. TFM. He also had a hand in designing Augusta National.

Four days after serving as pall bearer for long time mentor Harvey Penick, Ben Crenshaw wins his second green jacket in 1995.

The Golden Bear’s final Major tournament win, at the age of 46, comes after a late round surge at the Masters in 1986 with his son caddying.

Tiger’s 2005 chip-in that made Nike execs soil themselves.

And although this last one has absolutely nothing to do with the Masters, this John Daly video was unanimously voted the favorite among the TFM staff. Enjoy.

Bobby Jones won today’s equivalent of $820,000 from betting on himself to do something that nobody else ever has (pre-Masters) TFM

Pretty good list, I’d have definitely included Larry Mize’s chip-in as someone said earlier. Phil’s shot out of the pines on 13 was pretty damn good too.

Great list. Larry Mize in 87, Tiger in 01, Phil in 04, Faldo in 89 & 96, Sarazen in 35 are some good ones as well.
