Time Constraints Prevent ULL From Playing National Anthem Before Softball Game, Fans Sing It Anyway

Stories that help perpetuate the ideals of patriotism in America are a critical counterweight in balancing the seemingly endless barrage of anti-American sentiment by its own citizens. Patriotism is still kicking, and despite the current trendy ideas set by a vocal minority, there is no better nation in the world than the United States of America.

This patriotism was displayed brilliantly Sunday night at Lamson Park on the campus of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette, LA. The ULL Ragin’ Cajuns were set to battle the Baylor Bears in the NCAA Softball Regionals when the fans were told there would be no national anthem played before the game due to time constraints. Many fans would’ve shrugged their shoulders and continued feasting on $8 Cokes and $12 nachos. Other fans would’ve been silently content that they could remain seated and avoid removing their hat. The fans of ULL chose to take a different route, however.

Everyone on the field — players, coaches, and umpires included — stopped their pregame activities and faced the flag. Amazing.

Well done, Lafayette. Hopefully this gesture encourages others to do the same.

Ok, down-vote me because I think the national anthem should be sung regardless of time constraints.

Certain things in life you make time for. Trying to cut out the National Anthem from America’s Pastime is just wrong. First the NFL charges the military now this… I just hope this sickening trend ends.

Who ever thought forgoing the anthem was a good idea needs to be fired and shipped of to Russia.
