It was only a mere year and a half ago that Auburn replaced the trees at Toomer’s Corner. Harvey Updyke took them down first, but, according to Twitter, LSU fans are responsible for the fire that claimed another Toomer’s Corner tree following the LSU vs. Auburn game Saturday night.

While there have been no official statements released by Auburn authorities regarding the incident, videos posted to Twitter appear to show a man deliberately lighting the tree on fire.

The Auburn Fire Department eventually arrived and put out the fire, and while there are whispers of Auburn police having arrested a suspect in the case, we cannot confirm that at this point. However, we can confirm that one tree and likely several unblemished criminal records did not survive the night.

The more I hear about this, the more pissed off I get. This isn’t like taking a statue or painting a dick on Auburn billboard. This is killing a link to the past. That is hallowed ground and for someone to be this disrespectful really ticks me off. Fuck whoever did this.

An AG school trashing trees. Dumbest thing I heard off. Here’s a clue, not all traditions should last forever. By trashing I mean Aubarn, not the loser supposedly from LSU. Go buy yourselves another Cam Newton and a new coach.
