It’s that glorious time of year again when The Princeton Review rolls out its list of top party schools, students at said top party school go bananas and then the university administration shuts it down — SHUTS IT ALL DOWN — by the end of the year. It’s a vicious cycle that’s far too common nowadays. That’s why it’s so tough to find a defending champ and this year is no different. Last year’s top school, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was knocked down a few spots to no. 5. This year’s winner? Tulane University.

Princeton Review’s Top 20 Party Schools Of 2018:

1. Tulane University
2. West Virginia University
3. Bucknell University
4. Syracuse University
5. University of Wisconsin-Madison
6. University of Delaware
7. University of Colorado-Boulder
8. Colgate University
9. Lehigh University
10. University of Maine
11. University of Iowa
12. University of California, Santa Barbara
13. University of Mississippi
14. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
15. University of Vermont
16. University of Rhode Island
17. University of Florida
18. Wake Forest University
19. University of Kansas
20. University of Alabama

Honestly, Tulane’s high ranking caught me a tad off guard. When I think party, I don’t automatically think the Green Wave. But then you get down to the nitty gritty. It’s a fairly exclusive school known for its med and law schools. It’s also located in New Orleans, the Mardi Gras and “drink ‘til you piss yourself” mega capital of the world.

It takes a bit of stealthiness to climb your way up the list, as well. Once you get into that magical top five, the news reporters start coming out of the wood works left and right, shoving microphones in university administrators’ faces. “So, the Princeton Review just named your school the no. 4 party school in the nation. Can you talk about how your plans to reinstate Prohibition?”

That’s normally when all the fun starts going down the shitter. Tulane was nicely positioned at no. 9 the past two years, straight lurking on that top spot. It’s the first time Tulane has claimed the top spot since 1992, the first year the Princeton Review published the rankings.

I see my initial assessment was off, and I apologize. Game respect game. Keep going strong, Tulane.

Except it isn’t even the biggest party school in the state. LSU, even ULL, claim wilder reputations and they are an hour or two apart. Young people doing crazy stuff in NOLA =/= Tulane students being the top party school.

Excellent point. I’m sure Lafayette rages a lot harder than New Orleans. Ass.

I’m just saying when three of your top 10 party schools are small probably liberal arts colleges something is amiss

If I was a liberal arts major I would party every night (if you call playing Dungeons and Dragons while drinking IPA a “party”) to try and forget how shitty my future is going to be

I don’t know there’s no way they make this list without serious coke money. My question is how much blow do 2,800 people have to do to beat out Athens?

If Athens is your idea of a party town then you have led a pitifully sheltered life. That place is an absolute joke

And why do you sound like an 8th grade kid bragging? People go to UF for the academics and people go to FSU for the parties. That’s just how it’s been forever.
