Twitter Throws A “Frat House” Party And I’m Deeply Offended

Yesterday, the tech nerds over at Twitter threw an internal “frat house” themed happy hour and they’re starting to catch some heat for it. Rightfully so. Personally, I’m livid at such narrow-mindedness. I don’t want justice. I NEED it. Fire up the outrage machine. These overprivileged Silicon Valley pricks stereotyping fraternity culture is appalling. Heads have to roll. Shut it down. Shut the whole damn company down.

I refuse to believe these animals can be so tone-deaf. It’s 2015 after all! They were being offensive for the sake of being offensive. Beer pong? Red Solo cups? PBR? These are all images and common clichés that are harmful to the growth of my people as a whole and pigeonhole us in a negative light.

A spokesperson for Twitter, Jim Prosser, issued this apology after.

From Fusion:

“This social event organized by one team was in poor taste at best, and not reflective of the culture we are building here at Twitter,” Prosser said. “We’ve had discussions internally with the organizing team, and they recognize that this theme was ill-chosen.”

Apology not accepted, Jim. Someone has to pay for this bigotry — that, or something completely unrelated has to happen in the next few days. If I have anything else to direct all my anger towards, I’ll move on and forget about this altogether. But hey, that’s just the life of a social justice warrior.

TFM bitching about adding negative connotations to Greek life is like ISIS bitching about adding negative stereotypes to Muslims

Exchange all of that pizza for beer, throw all those cups on the floor along with a few piles of puke and they nailed it.

In all seriousness this was thrown by the financial department, so there are definitely Greeks in it. On top of that I bet they forced some bored interns to come up with the theme and a couple frat guys missed their house so wanted some cheap beer and beer games. Instead of an innocent party that doesn’t offend any of us, some lunatic decided that by using “frat” in the name that Twitter was saying men at Twitter are all misogamists. This is frightening that it still took off and Twitter actually had to apologize.
