U.S. Olympian Trapped In Bathroom, Kool-Aid Mans His Way To Freedom

Johnny Quinn deserves a tall, cold glass of Kool-Aid after this one.

We all know that the conditions in Sochi are less than satisfactory. Budweiser even canceled a party for it. I blame Putin. But Quinn got more than he bargained for out of his Olympic experience on Saturday. The U.S. bobsledder was taking a shower when his door became jammed, locking him in the bathroom.

Quinn is on the second U.S. sleigh on the bobsled team. He is what is known as a breakman. The breakman is the guy who pushes the bobsled from the back, using a running start to gain momentum. We’ve all seen Cool Runnings.

I like to imagine the scene in my mind. Mr. Quinn is exhausted from a long day of Olympic training. He finally makes it back to his hotel room for a well-deserved shower.

He gets out and finds himself stranded, phone-less and hopeless. Facing imprisonment in his own hotel room, his mind reverted back to the one thing he knew how to do. Bobsled.

Returning to his push training, he ran and launched himself into the door, Kool-Aid Manning his way back into the bedroom.

Cool Runnings, what a underrated movie. Plus, I would of loved to be in on that movie pitch meeting. “Ok how about, Jamaicans bobsledding. Boom. Writes it’s self, you’re welcome.”
