UConn Campus Shaken After Hazed KKG Member Wakes Up In Hospital

The University of Connecticut placed the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity on temporary suspension after an alleged hazing incident. The incident occurred at the off-campus SAE house, and it put sorority member Hillary Holt in the hospital. Holt, a sophomore, woke up in a hospital bed after she was forced to drink alcohol at the party, as well as participate in other physical hazing rituals. Upon arriving at the hospital, her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit of .08.

UConn’s Office of Community Standards has barred both organizations from participating in school and Greek-related events while it investigates the allegations.

The method of hazing? Forced drinking and the go-to bacon fry.

From NBC Connecticut:

Holt accuses members of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon of forcing her and other girls to drink.

“We had to lay on the floor and sizzle like bacon, hold our ankles, jump up and down,” said Holt. “If we did it right, we had to drink. If we did it wrong, we had to drink.”

Frying like bacon, made popular by “Dazed and Confused.”

Occurring in the wake of SAE’s monumental announcement to terminate its pledging process, which is, in effect, an effort to eliminate hazing, this is poor timing for the SAE chapter at UConn. Just three days before the new, pledge-free program was put into motion, perhaps this was part of a last-ditch effort to squeeze some hazing in before Nationals cracked down. Hazing a girl, though? Didn’t see that one coming.

ΣΑΕ is a shitty fraternity anyway(excluding their older brothers). at my school they are the biggest in membership(because they blanket bid any kid with a pulse; coincidentally which is why their brothers are weirdos) but don’t even party. they just fucking study and creep out girls. Now that they are no longer doing pledging, there is no ability to mold pledges into social and acceptable men. so now, they are assuring all their future members are fucking Wack. Now i hear about another chapter actually hazing a girl? Is there no end to their failures?

This girl is 21 and a sister- not a pledge. She’s also on previous probation with the school for rubbing her roommates toothbrush in the toilet. Apparently her fam is broke and is fabricating this situation to get free tuition and more $. Biggest sell-out I’ve ever seen.

Article should read: “Sorority sisters save girl’s life by calling an ambulance”. The article also includes a quote where she thought she was only going to play drinking games, meaning she was more than willing to binge drink. The bottom line is that if she was an unaffiliated, her friends would be commended for taking the safe route and sending her to the hospital, but Greeks can do no right.

Aloha! According to data they are 8/9 and “another kappa chapter closed for hazing” with 1.5/5 stars!

This article fails to address her abilities to actually cook bacon. Does she even know that it goes on sandwiches and burgers?

Dorn, you don’t usually see a lot of things coming since the dicks are usually IN your body…

The fact of the matter is that both Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon are currently on temporary suspension, as stated in the article. Regardless of what happened, there are two sides to every story and judgements should not be passed until all of the details have come out and the investigation has concluded since these are only allegations against the sorority and fraternity in question. If hazing did in fact happen, then the situation needs to be taken care of. The University of Connecticut Greek community is not in trouble. It is strong and will overcome this and will persevere regardless of what the outcome of this is.
