University Of Miami Pi Kappa Phi Set To Bike 850 Miles Across Florida
Weeks ago I covered the University of Idaho Delta Sigma Phis biking 300 miles for their philantropy. Now it looks like another fraternity is following suit as Miami’s Pi Kappa Phi aims to do the same only a much greater distance.
From WSVN Miami:
The Pi Kappa Phi fraternity is gearing up for a big benefit that will take cyclists all the way to the state capitol.
The 850-mile charity cycling event will take riders to the State Capitol Building in Tallahassee. The team will spend time in 14 Florida cities and average 75 miles per day over the next two weeks.
Each year, the fraternity raises more than $80,000 for people with disabilities, spreading a message of acceptance and understanding across the Sunshine State.

This is a great philanthropy and will bring both money and attention to an outstanding cause. Yet, with that being said, I cannot imagine what an 850 mile bike ride through America’s wasteland known only as Florida could entail. Weather aside, a two week trip via bicycle from Miami all the way to North Florida will likely leave these guys with stories, both good and horrifying, to last a lifetime. Good luck guys and remember to keep your head on a swivel — anything goes on the open road in Florida..

Yeah, I’m definitely too old to be picking fights on the internet, but Pi Kapp has been doing a cross country bike ride for 31 years to support their philanthropy. So not really following the Vandals at all
