UNLV To Break Ground On New Football Stadium, Featuring 100-Yard-Long Video Screen
Jerry Jones is having a bad couple weeks. First he watched his beloved Cowboys drop yet another chance at a playoff berth, and now he learns that his behemoth 60-yard wide video screen is getting bitched by a ridiculous 40 yards, and by a middle tier university.
From 60 Max Power 0:
UNLV’s 60,000-seat stadium proposal will feature a 100-yard-long video screen, thats’s 40 yards longer than the one Jones installed at Cowboys Stadium, according to the Las Vegas Sun.
The screen will make it “world’s largest multimedia immersive experience,” according to developers. “This project is a game changer for UNLV and Las Vegas,” said Don Snyder, UNLV Now’s project lead. “It’s an important and significant project for the state as well. It’s the next big thing.”
The project is reported to have a price tag of $800 Million, and is scheduled to break ground in the next two years and be completed by 2017.
Math has always been a strong subject of mine, and with some evidence provided in the above photo, I can tell you that this 100-yard-long screen will run from one goal line to the other, providing gratuitous football player rubber-necking during in-game action. Imagine a guy like Deion Sanders in his heyday — or someone with real flair — streaking down the field on the way to the endzone while running adjacent to this monster. It will be like he’s looking at himself in a gigantic mirror while scoring a touchdown. Just think of the possibilities. It might get absurd.

12 years ago at 9:22 pm^Yea but did you see that big screen. So dope.
12 years ago at 1:35 amWas there as a visitor this past year. There was 17,100 in attendance and as the visiting team we had sold 10,000 of those tickets. This is ambitious but stupid. Hopefully it is near their campus as the curent stadium is 45 minutes from The Strip.
12 years ago at 12:52 pmI’m sure The Blue Man Group will find some way to get on this Vegas Jumbo-Tron as well.
12 years ago at 1:00 pmI still don’t see UNLV cracking the top 25 anytime soon.
12 years ago at 2:23 pmThere better be some self-power-pointing touchdown runs on that monstrosity.
12 years ago at 4:04 pmFuck UNLV football… I guess this place would make for a pretty cool bowl game though.
