Valet Confuses Gas Pedal For Brake, Completely Destroys $450,000 Ferrari
A valet in Rome at the Hotel Exedra absolutely demolished a 2012 Ferrari 599 GTO after confusing the gas pedal for the brake. Roberto Cinti, 38, drove through the front of an Italian shop this past Monday morning at a high speed and the result wasn’t pretty.

This is what happens to a £300,000 Ferrari when you confuse the brake with the accelerator http://t.co/5w9hO2e0Lx pic.twitter.com/douqTLrfUp

Knowing the difference between the brake and the gas pedal is generally a prerequisite for a valet position. It’s right up there with turning the vehicle on. However, I’m not going to crucify this poor dude for single-handedly destroying a marvel of human ingenuity.
I, myself, have personal experience in this useless field. A month after graduation, things were looking extremely grim on the job front, so I took a valet gig at a hotel that will remain nameless to pay the bills. I’ll tell you upfront, it was the most miserable month of my existence. I was dressed like a damn clown in a Renaissance naval uniform, continually running around and parking cars, sweating like DeAndre Jordan at the foul line from the Florida summer heat, and sucking guests’ dicks in hopes that they’d be courteous enough to throw a few bills my way, or at least a napkin to wipe my mouth clean. But, more often than not, they’d stiff me because it was a lower middle class hotel by Disney World.
Add in the fact that I was working 16-hour shifts multiple days in a row on little to no sleep and I completely understand how something like this Ferrari crash could happen. More often than not, the lights are on, but no one’s home. Total autopilot. That job can break even the most mentally strong of individuals. There were plenty of times where I thought about driving through a fucking wall and ending it all in a blaze of glory. Had I worked there any longer than I did, there’s no question I’d be the subject of a news piece similar to this. Lesson learned: don’t graduate with a film degree..

Definitely wasn’t because of some casual high speed cruising on the valet’s part.
11 years ago at 4:45 pmThe dollar is a lot stronger than you’re suggesting. It is closer to a $325000 car.
11 years ago at 5:19 pmYou might be thinking of the 599 GTB. The 599 GTO is $400-500k and the 599 Aperta is about $1M. Either way, it’s a lot so who cares.
