Vandals Spray Paint Swastikas On Stanford SAE's House

Since the Stanford undergraduate senate passed a resolution supporting divestment from corporations identified as complicit in human rights abuses in Israel and Palestine, there has been an increase in hostility towards the Jewish community on campus. SAE is the latest to experience the hostility when someone tagged their house with Swastikas in an act of vandalism over the weekend.

From Stanford Daily:

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity house was painted with swastikas Saturday night, along with several personal slurs and epithets.

“We discovered a number of offensive symbols and messages spray-painted on the SAE house,” said the president of Stanford’s SAE chapter.

The president did not want to be named so as to prevent association with “such hateful symbolism.”

Why was SAE targeted? The president of the fraternity said he didn’t believe that the acts were not directed at any member of SAE. The only recent news I could find on the chapter was that they had lost their housing privileges starting next year for Title IX violations in December, so I’m not sure why someone decided to paint swastikas on the house.

Also, for being Stanford students, you’d think whoever did this would be able to spell the words “fuck” and “you,” but what do I know? While the police still do not have any suspects, they are investigating this as a hate crime.

    There is hostility towards the Jewish community on Stanford’s campus and these morons target SAE? I don’t know much about that chapter but shouldn’t the idiots have targeted a more traditional Jewish fraternity? Either way, SAE is involved in more bad press and the fraternity world at large is again ‘attacked’ – lose / lose situation …

    The reason SAE got kicked off campus is absolutely absurd. Basically some brothers/pledges told some offensive jokes at mixer. That’s essentially it.
