Virginia Tech Bar Uses Twitter To Call Out Students Who Still Have Tabs Open
There’s nothing worse than waking up the morning after a hard night of drinking and checking your wallet to find that your card is gone because you left your tab open at God knows where. All you want to do is head down to the local 7-11, grab a Gatorade, and get some breakfast tacos from the nearest taco joint. But instead you have to retrace your steps, or just flat out cut your losses and cancel the card. This is why I always close out after every round, no matter what. Sure, I might be paying a little more on tips, but whatever — I know I’m securing a bacon, egg, and cheese in the morning.
Students at Virginia Tech who frequent Top Of The Stairs, or TOTS, know this feeling all too well. In fact, a bunch of them never even went back to check and see if their card was still there — probably because they didn’t want to pay for the tab. So TOTS decided to publicly call out everyone who still has a tab open.
Full list(s) of people who still have tabs. Come get your cards please or tell us to destroy them for you!!! pic.twitter.com/p1RW3XhVIz

Something tells me that they will just end up destroying them. They have also tweeted out names of kids who have left driver’s licenses there. My guess is that the majority of those are fakes..

11 years ago at 4:42 pmThis method works for me. Won’t work everywhere. I had eighty bucks. I showed it to the bartender, then put it all in the tip jar. He kept us topped off all night.

11 years ago at 4:14 pmComing from someone who frequently leaves his card at bars, I wish more bars would do this. No longer would I have to go to multiple bars the next morning asking if my card was there. I would just check twitter and know exactly where it is.
11 years ago at 3:45 pmThis is my number 1 pet peeve for bars. Just give the customer their card back and add 20% when they forget to close out.
