It’s earth-shatteringly apparent that this list is chock full of questionable entries, and I’ve further subdivided most of them into my own categories.

Legitimate Contenders

Villanova, UNC Wilmington, Northwestern, Furman, Dartmouth, Tulane, Auburn, SMU, Washington and Lee. I don’t have a problem with any schools in this category making the list, despite Washington and Lee being a highly questionable pick for number one. I’ve personally been to that campus, and it didn’t seem too lively at all.

Head Scratchers

Lafayette, Bucknell, Presbyterian, Bradley, Millsapps, Drake, Gettysburg, Hillsdale, Wofford, Union, Huntingdon, Chapman, Rhodes, Wisc-Whitewater, Lehigh, MIT, Baker, Kettering. I’m sure some of these schools have great Greek life, but you have to wonder why entries like these are appearing instead of more Power Five schools.

Fairy Tales

I’m pretty sure the following schools are made up: High Point, Transylvania, Culver-Stockton, Southwestern, Ripon, William Woods, Florida Southern, Albion, Centre. Transylvania? Ripon? What are these schools? Though it is refreshing to see a list that isn’t dominated by SEC and Big Ten schools, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would think that a William Woods or a Florida Southern could stand up to an Alabama or Michigan State. None of this made any sense to me until I looked at the criteria for these rankings.

-Percentage of students enrolled in Greek life.
-Number of Greek organizations on campus.
-Greek organizations must be chapters of National organizations, such as, but not limited to, the Panhellenic Conference, Interfraternity Council, or Multi-Cultural Greek Council.
-Number of criminal offenses occurring on campus during 2011-2013.
-Average Greek Rank rating.

Well, there you have it. These rankings were brought to you largely by criminal offense statistics from 2011-13, as well as fucking GreekRank. If you aren’t familiar, GreekRank is a joke of a website in which anyone can anonymously give numerical scores to any fraternity or sorority, which makes it about as valid and credible as a YouTube comments section.

With that, I can say with confidence that this list looks like it was put together by a student of one of the many liberal arts colleges featured on it, and is about as useless as a degree from there.

Centre had pretty decent Greek life four or five years ago, but it’s definitely gone downhill. Still, even back then it would have absolutely no business being on a list like this.

Wofford is my school, but we had a post on TFM for our “communist” greek life rules and we somehow made a top list. I can say this list is fucking ass.

Union college is the mother of Greek life having the first 3 fraternities in history being founded there. And roughly 40% of the school is Greek. It deserves to be on the list, maybe not where it is but still

Villanova is not a legitimate contender whatsoever, they don’t even have fucking fraternity houses and there is pretty much no where to party besides at a bar. It’s called Villanofun for a reason, despite having a large student/greek population. For the head scratches like Lehigh, Bucknell, and Gettysburg – these schools are run by Greek life. Yeah they only have a couple thousand kids each, if that, but the majority of the student population are wealthy Northern kids who know how to party. The quality level of most fraternities is surprising – with only one or two “bad” chapters per school. Also all are located in the middle of bumfuck Pennsylvania and the only thing to do is to get fucking plastered in a fraternity basement.

I made the horrible mistake of going to Ripon, and it is seriously a fucking joke. The school has 750-1000 kids enrolled depending on the year, has some of the worst facilities I’ve ever seen, and every student is required to live in dorms, meaning each fraternity and sorority has a floor of a dorm instead of a house. The fraternity dorms were built in the ’60s and were meant to be temporary and used for 10-15 years, yet there they still stand (barely) and continuously sink into the ground. One is about to fall down a hill.

On the plus side, we don’t have to worry about that school much longer, as with declining attendance rates, it’s close to closing.
