It’s earth-shatteringly apparent that this list is chock full of questionable entries, and I’ve further subdivided most of them into my own categories.
Legitimate Contenders
Villanova, UNC Wilmington, Northwestern, Furman, Dartmouth, Tulane, Auburn, SMU, Washington and Lee. I don’t have a problem with any schools in this category making the list, despite Washington and Lee being a highly questionable pick for number one. I’ve personally been to that campus, and it didn’t seem too lively at all.
Head Scratchers
Lafayette, Bucknell, Presbyterian, Bradley, Millsapps, Drake, Gettysburg, Hillsdale, Wofford, Union, Huntingdon, Chapman, Rhodes, Wisc-Whitewater, Lehigh, MIT, Baker, Kettering. I’m sure some of these schools have great Greek life, but you have to wonder why entries like these are appearing instead of more Power Five schools.
Fairy Tales
I’m pretty sure the following schools are made up: High Point, Transylvania, Culver-Stockton, Southwestern, Ripon, William Woods, Florida Southern, Albion, Centre. Transylvania? Ripon? What are these schools? Though it is refreshing to see a list that isn’t dominated by SEC and Big Ten schools, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would think that a William Woods or a Florida Southern could stand up to an Alabama or Michigan State. None of this made any sense to me until I looked at the criteria for these rankings.
-Percentage of students enrolled in Greek life.
-Number of Greek organizations on campus.
-Greek organizations must be chapters of National organizations, such as, but not limited to, the Panhellenic Conference, Interfraternity Council, or Multi-Cultural Greek Council.
-Number of criminal offenses occurring on campus during 2011-2013.
-Average Greek Rank rating.
Well, there you have it. These rankings were brought to you largely by criminal offense statistics from 2011-13, as well as fucking GreekRank. If you aren’t familiar, GreekRank is a joke of a website in which anyone can anonymously give numerical scores to any fraternity or sorority, which makes it about as valid and credible as a YouTube comments section.
With that, I can say with confidence that this list looks like it was put together by a student of one of the many liberal arts colleges featured on it, and is about as useless as a degree from there..
