Also not hating, but for educational purposes, Jack Daniel’s is not bourbon. Still looks like a hell of a night though.

JD meets all the legal requirements to be called bourbon, but the founders obviously wanted to make a distinction. They also filter it through charcoal. It’s a TN whiskey.

even though it may be the same as bourbon but if its not made in kentucky then it isnt bourbon

“JD meets all the requirements of bourbon”

BUT guess what it can never be bourbon, because it’s from tennessee, not Kentucky.. It’s like Champagne and sparkling wine..

Wow you are new. Bourbon can be distilled and bottled anywhere in the US by Act of Congress. Go pretend you know what you’re talking about at mylifeisbro or something.

it’s a delicate subject odvi… you boys and your whiskey (whatever kind it may be).

JD prob incorporated before the 1964 act of Congress, and thusly had been branded and marketed as something other than bourbon prior to Congress’s generous bourbon labeling legislation. It was branded as “tennessee whisky” because it was not made in Kentucky (Bourbon County, Kentucky most notably) and it also has the whole charcoal filtration thing. I was, however, wrong about saying that it CAN never be called it; in my opinion though, it WILL never be called bourbon whiskey – at least not on the bottle.

anyway. i’m going to go paint my nails or something.

This isn’t even up for debate. According to NAFTA, which may or may not be NF:

“Canada and Mexico shall recognize Bourbon Whiskey and Tennessee Whiskey, which is a straight Bourbon Whiskey authorized to be produced only in the State of Tennessee, as distinctive products of the United States.”

JD is a bourbon legally and technically. TN whiskey is a subset of bourbon, which is a subset of whiskey (whisky). It *shouldn’t* be called bourbon, but it *is* bourbon.

okay. but it’s never going to be labeled as such by JD company itself.. and it’s still not Bourbon Bourbon..
whether congress says it’s bourbon or not

I want to say: “so then why would you CALL it bourbon… just cause wikipedia said a fact and instead of extrapolating and making an informed and intelligent decision as to the actual merits and qualifications of JD instead of just regurgitating wikifacts like a bad piece of sushi…” but i see that’s what you did..

So instead, “why don’t we just agree to disagree” :

I don’t think JD is bourbon
      You don’t think it’s bourbon
JD doesn’t even bother calling itself bourbon.

AND the only reason the act of congress probably exists in the first place is because some geed independent whined to ol’ sam about not being let in the Old Boys Club, so we really shouldn’t be condoning any hasty, rampant and utterly blasphemous use of term bourbon.

Wikipedia doesn’t call JD a bourbon, so I have no idea what you’re talking about. I said JD is technically bourbon even though it markets itself as TN whiskey. TN whiskey is technically bourbon.

No one was whining about being left out of the ‘Old Boys Club.’ If anything the US wants to make sure no one infringes on our right to rage (with American whiskey). Quit rambling and go make a sandwich.

okay, fratonomics, i don’t know where you’re from, but really dude, go read malcolm gladwell again and maybe learn something this time. and you’ll really fight it will do you good in life to be more perceptive and less of an asshole.
      1. yes, wiki does. of course wiki says a lot of things and is unreliable.
      2. i do know it is technically bourbon and that yes, “TN whisky is bourbon”, too.
      3. there is the birthplace of bourbon, and the KY distillers of “Old Bourbon County” but yes the US probably was protecting the use of the word “bourbon” to domestic enterprises -w/e we’re talking our personal opinions and sentiments on the merits of jack as a bourbon. JD doesn’t label itself as bourbon. it could be *technically* considered a bourbon; i also personally think it is not. okaay. cool. lol and even good ol JD’s *just* thank god i came across ina garten’s recipe for fresh whiskey sours last night.. because going to need a lot
      5. lol and don’t you know it’s breakfast time lol?? i’m making french toast

..but seriously, read the gladwell; there’s no need to be so much of an asshole.

      2) It was lunchtime when I wrote that. There are multiple timezones in the US.
      3) Try using complete sentences. My head hurts.
      4) I need a couple of fingers of bourbon.
